Cadillac – Growing Strong in China

While the all-new Cadillac XTS will soon begin production in Ontario for its North American debut this spring, GM announced at the Beijing Auto Show that the Chinese-market XTS will be produced by Shanghai GM starting in fall 2012.

China is one of the world’s strongest markets for luxury cars, and has become Cadillac’s second-largest market only seven years after its small-scale introduction. While Cadillac’s full line is now available in the People’s Republic, only the exclusive SLS sedan is actually built there, something that will change with the XTS’ Chinese debut. Continue reading

Celebrate the 2013 Black Diamond Avalanche

In 2002, the Chevrolet Avalanche literally reshaped the pickup segment – offering an adjustable Midgate that allowed for even greater cargo space, or comfortable seating for up to six. A decade (and 580,000 sales) later, Avalanche is ending its successful run with one last reason to celebrate – the 2013 Black Diamond edition.

The Black Diamond Avalanche will feature body-colored bed surrounds, unique badging and refined standard equipment packages on both the LS and LT models, including features such as rear camera, rear park assist, power adjustable pedals, fog lamps and remote start. Despite the enhanced packages, Avalanche base price dropped $2,500 for 2013. Continue reading

VIDEO: LEGO-Based Visual Management Tool

Just about everything’s been built with LEGO® blocks – from pianos and cell phones to space shuttles and Lady Liberty. While it’s unlikely a LEGO car or stethoscope would pass safety inspection, GM and Georgia’s Wellstar Health System have found a way to put LEGO fun to practical good use in automotive program management and health care facilities.

Called 3-D Visualization, the system helps automakers and health care providers better meet the needs of their customers and patients through improved organization. Built on GM’s Problem Resolution Tracking System, when an issue is identified on a test vehicle, a color-designated LEGO block goes on a LEGO board. The block size denotes severity; the bigger the block, the bigger the problem. Continue reading
