We used OnStar on the way back home from the Outer Banks in NC. Some where in West Virginia we stopped for gas, but left the keys on the center console and locked the doors. Our OnStar trial year was well past expiration, but we called 1-888-4-ONSTAR and the OnStar reps immediately sent out a few signals (we were in the Mountains) and un-locked the doors - as courtesy. Thanks for the good service.

Our 2005 GMC Canyon is equipped with OnStar. We had to use it once and--as a result--my wife has declared that, from now on, no one in our family will ever purchase a vehicle that does not have On-Star. It is that good.
Why doesn't GM spin-off OnStar as a separate company? It would then be in a position to license the product to other manufacturers which should be very profitable.
Great Work, GM!

I don't mean to sound like a broken record here, but how about a podcast on the upcoming Camaro?
(Or are you just going to keep the Camaro project secret until it's available in the showrooms? That would be way beyond cool.)

OnStar is a GM product I've had on two cars. This is what all mom's on the road with kids should have. Senior citizens most certainly need this - just in case. Never know when OnStar needs to be called! I would like to see the Directions package reduced in price.

I had OnStar with my 2002 Saab 93. I leased a 2005 Saab 93 with all the bells and whistles and when I asked about OnStar I was told it wasn't available on the 2005 Saab 93. Although disappointed I leased the car anyway, a great vehicle but without OnStar. While
OnStar is available, I believe, at least as an option, on all other GM products in this price range, I was not left with any real explanation about its unavailability with the 2005 Saab 93. Any explanations?

I need to invest in high-speed (not available here). But I will tell you the diagnostics check will be a welcome addition for anyone that worries about the health of their car, onstar becomes an investment not just a convenience now.
Just stay ahead of Toyota's system that they are introducing and don't loose the technological advantage. Keep doing what you're doing.
And if you get a chance to speak to Bob...
I like his analogy of himself as the conductor leading an orchestra.
Now that orchestra has been playing one tune, the blues for too long. Front wheel drive cookie cutter designs...So here is my thoughts.
Chevrolet - American Top 40
Pontiac - Rock & Roll
GMC - Country
Buick - Golden Oldies
Cadillac - Classical
Escalade - Wrap
Hummer - Hip-Hop and R&B
Saturn - Smooth Jazz
Saab - Soft Rock
Let everyone else play Muzak and sing the blues now.
Now we all may not appreciate all the music here but there is one thing we can agree on, they all have a market so don't forget your categories anymore.
I would like to say congrats to Wagoner and thanks to Lutz for this great forum. My suggestion to getting back the $100 billion in missing wealth (that went to Toyota) is this...
You gotta raise the roof and seating position and get back some meat on those bones, especially at Buick. Not long cars but substanctial cars with higher trunks and hoods higher roofs and higher seating positions even flat floors in some cases. Put bulging fenders back on Buick. And please, not all crossovers have to be wagons, make some high sedans please.
In other words be Detroit. Don't try to make too much sushi but go back to the original recipe what you were known for what you are best at. Ask Emeril how to make thick steaks.
Thank God it is not too late. See you at the autoshow.

I have a 2005 Cadillac Escalade with may I mention ONSTAR. Onstar really is one of the coolest features on my truck. It provides great service when you need it, and lets you know via email anyhting that need maintenince.it saved my butt 3 weeks ago over Reno, I had taken my truck off roading...minor stuff, and hit something hard and caused a puncture to my radiator, or something and I didnt know. Had it not been for the vehicle diagnosis, I would have been stuck out in the desert. As soon as it happened, onstar interrupted my radio and told me. I LOVE ONSTARS DIAG thing. Its an awesome safety feature all cars should have.....got me outta of a jam. Love it! Cool thing is it scans your car for all problems.....
