A BIG-BROTHER feature is nice, but as a recent GM new truck buyer, I would like to know that On-Star would help me evade police if I claimed I was being wrogfully persued, after all I am the customer.

While this is a good idea, I hope the security is done right. This is a prime candidate for denial of service (DoS) attacks. The car can be maliciously disabled.

In July,2007 I purchassed a Hummer H3.This represents my 24th new G.M. car.I am 57 years old. This is the first car I've had with onstar.I tried to order it or a Blazer SS without it but G.M. doesnt appear to have a delete option. So I took a chance to see if I could get used to it even though I did not want any part of it.After 4 months of ownership,I found its mere presence so disconcerting,so annoying,so big brother, that I traded it in on a new Jeep. How sad for me and my long commitment to G.M.that a piece of unwanted telematics, that apparently exists bacause somebody has decided that I and others now require a babysitter in case I hurt myself/get lost/can't remember to maintain my car,has forced me away from my favorite vehicle corporation.I caused me to trade in one of the coolest cars I've ever owned yet.Maybe I'm considered out of the ordinary by my reaction to this technology but I bet I'm not alone.Remember, when one gets annoyed enouph to say something, how many are thinking the same thing. How many fine G.M. cars and trucks are not purchassed because the potential buyer wants nothing to do with the presence of onstar in his/her next new car or truck.I know I wont, and I was really looking forward to buying the new Malibu for my wife untill I found it came with onstar whether I liked it or not.End of that idea.So I'll close with this......How about making onstar a delete option? It is not installed in cars bound for Hawaii,Canada,Puerto Rico,Virgin Islands or other areas not satallite supported so its not like something has to be redesigned. If I ordered a Blazer SS in Hawaii it would not have onstar. Why not allow those of us who don't want that technology to say'PASS'? Oh well, thanks for letting me vent. Rob
