For the Camaro Fans…

I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday season and is looking forward to 2008, because I know I am.
Word has come down from Bob Lutz to remove the camo from the pre-production Camaros so further evaluations could be done for aerodynamics and cooling efficiency.
Here – for the enjoyment of our FastLane readers – is the first picture of the Camaro development vehicle without camouflage:

During this upcoming year, pre-production Camaros will appear both on U.S. and Australian roads as we continue with testing and development. So keep those camera phones ready- if you happen to see one, we’d like to hear about it, so please post a comment and include your “spy photo!”

Mr Lutz,
The exterior is looking good, but please, please, please do not put the interior in it that the spy photos on the net are showing. That is the most hideous dash setup I’ve maybe every seen. I specifically leased my current vehicle so that when the lease was up I’d be able to buy the new Camaro. But I can tell you right now, if that’s the direction the interior is going in, the Camaro is not going to be an option. And from reading the comments on the F-body enthusiasts boards, they are echoing my sentiments.
Great shot – thanks for the teasers!!!
Rest assured, Maximum Bob,
The above sentiments are the minority. The interior looks fantastic–by far the segment leader in terms of innovative design–and I’m happy to say that, from what I can see in the shot above, the exterior will be just as striking. Bravo!
Thanks for the picture Ed! Us Camaro enthusiasts are extremely excited and can’t wait for the arrival of the new 5th Gen Camaro!

Looks great! I’ll bet it beats a 1.8T as well!
The Camaro is absolutely a beautiful car and is proof positive of what GM Design can be. Just follow it up with a RWD Impala that is equally exciting and you will have a double-header!
Exterior looks good so far. From the shot on this site, it looks like rear view visibility will be limited. Can you provide some measurements like length and width? I realize they might not be finalized but a range would be nice to know.
I hope you can keep the weight down. No more than 3500lbs would be nice.
Bob/Ed, It’s Beautiful!! Bring it!!!! Please cut out the vents on in front of the rear wheel!!! I can’t wait either way. Thank you so much!
Maximum Bob is dropping it like its hot. Everyone loves it but we need Moar pictures. This will beat everything but the 1.8t.
Way to stay a step ahead of the spy photographers.
Just PLEASE do something about that interior.
Hi Brandon,
after your comment I was searching for interior spy-shots of the 2009 Camaro and finally found some at Autoblog.com. I can’t imagine, that these are showing the interior of the (final) production Camaro. Just look at those wide gaps, which could be recognized there. According to the new direction GM is going now and after the latest highly praised interiors of GM-vehicles, this will never ever be something, which might be offered to customers. That’s just provisional, which will do for a pre-production vehicle. I am convinced, as far as the level of quality and style is concerned, we can anticipate something, which will be absolutely comparable to the interior of the all-new Malibu, or maybe even better. I think there’s no need to worry.
Great looking car, and I enjoy that they’re taking every means necessary to make sure the car is built as well as possible.
It is an interesting approach, to embrace spy shots, but I think it is the right thing to do.

The comments about the interior can be frustrating to people who follow vehicular development a lot.
That is not a production car.
Why would they put the final interior into a car they are just doing engine tests on?
The car is almost a year away.
Even the picture we see is not final until they start tooling up the lines.
Calm down people. Bob’s got this one.
If thats the interior, I want my deposit back.
Guys, the car looks just as good as I was hoping it’d look. Thanks for stripping the camo off and letting us take a good look at the car as it is.
As for the excuse about aero and cooling efficiency? BULL. I bet Bob is like all the rest of us and just can’t wait to show this new car off.
looking at the spy shots, the interior looks cheap and plasticky. The only thing I like are the small gauges, those are a nice touch. The shifter looks horrible.
Thank You Ed !! I can’t wait for this to be in my garage !!!!
We appreciate the thought, Bob, and Ed. Thank you for sharing this with us!
As for comments about the interior…I for one like it. Others may not (but chances are, they haven’t yet realized that this is indeed a pre-production car).
So, again; Thank you GM, Chevy and everyone involved with the Camaro project. You have my personal, heartfelt thanks for bringing back a legend!
Sweet!
Thanks for the picture, it looks really great!
A comment on the interior spy photos:
The pre-production materials don’t look too great, however I’m sure it’ll look awesome in production form when the right materials are used and the gaps are sealed up.
These pictures only make me more excited to see the final production Camaro!! Woohooooo!!!

Dear Bob
Why is it taking so long to get the Camaro to market.Dodge showed the Challenger about the same time as you showed the Camaro but they will be on the market over a year ahead of the Camaro. I under taking your time and getting it right but taking tooo much time could prove costly. You are already years behind the Mustang which by the way will be coming out with a new one possibly before the new Camaro hit the streets. When you have people with pent up enthousam and you make them wait too long that turns into frustration and you could lose them to the compertition.
A preproduction interior is rough at best because : the tools many times are missing their in mold grain , the films or the soft wraps if applicable. You don’t think that GM would step up the game on all of its cars and let this one fall through…Please…have some faith here
Ed,
Before I go on my rant, I just wanted to say that you guys are doing a great job, and I wish you all the best for the new year…
The spy shots just came out for the Camaros interior, and you may have to step in for some damage control. Now granted, I understand this is a test mule, and obviously will not have the brushed aluminum, or high quality plastics that a production version would have, but can you really tell me, that you think the overall design looks good? I will admit that the Steering wheel and shifter look cool, but terrible gauge layout and overall flow of design, is, well…I’m not going to say it’s ugly, but I think it could have been a lot better. I’m hoping that they are just bad pictures, and it looks better in real life. When I go to the NY auto show, ill let you know for sure. Regardless, with that exterior, I still cant wait to get one.
Frank
looks very good in that pic just like the concept. Unlike many here I didnt think the interior shown on other sites was terrible. I’m glad to see it doesnt use a bunch of GM parts bin components
The Camaro exterior looks great.
Unless you’ve already done it, can we get rid of the SES lights on the dash that just stay on maybe replace them with a mild not so frightening ‘maintainance reminder’ that doesn’t stay on. Not very many technicians are smart enough to make them go off the first time and that hurts the image of the products. And it seems they are way too sensitive.
Please don’t listen to the brownnosers on the overall interior design. In its current look, the shaping and layout is awful (fit and finish are obviously early and should not be discussed). The central control stack looks like a late 90’s Xplod unit, and is overall highly tacky, and the guages down low just don’t mesh with anything resembling aesthetically pleasing. In its current form, it’s childish. Don’t finalize this look, pretty please? Please take this into consideration, as well as the positive reception of the work done on cars such as the CTS and Malibu. You can do an interior better than Ford, so do it!
I don’t know Ed, this uncamo’d Camaro pic, isn’t really that hot looking to me.
Maybe it’s just the angle.
I really want to resist forming an opinion on the Camaro until I see a real one in person. But holy cow, those interior spy shots circulating today, have got to be of the ugliest interior I have ever seen. Ever.
Pity, since GM’s interiors have been taking quantum leaps forward recently.
And keeping mission critical gauges down low, behind the shifter, will make them useless to most people, especially those of us over 40. So are those gauges merely a gimmick? If so, what’s the point?
I want to keep the flame going for Camaro, but today’s interior spy shots especially, may end up being a deal killer for me.
Please prove me wrong.

Very cool, I’m looking forward to SEEING the new Camaro on the road. A shame there is no new T/A for us ‘bird fans.
i will get one with a V6 and not a V8, please. And with cylinder deactivation. I heard there is a 20,000 USD budget version.
GM needs to raise the CAFE by 40%, otherwise it would face hefty fines. When I am cruising, I just need 3 or 2 cylinders. If Honda can offer it on its V6 Accord, I don’t think the extra cost is a major consideration.
The issue with the interior isn’t necessarily the materials or the fit and finish. It’s the whole retro wanna-be design. Ever since the original concept there have been many people who have hated the idea of putting a retro interior into such a slick modern-heritage package. The only people i have heard that like the design are a small group of the most hardcore enthusiasts.
Those hardcore enthusiasts would buy even if it had milk crate seats though. The goal should be making something that is less polarizing and more modernly styled and ergonomic. If the 5th gen had an interior on par with the GTO / G8 it would be a slam dunk home run with everybody. As it is, i can already see every magazine on the rack panning the retro interior as gimmicky and lame, just like most did about the original concept.
I’m not sure why so many are disappointed with the interior shots? My daily driver is an 07 Mercedes S550 and I’m still still impressed with what I see in these pics. I think despite it being retro here and there it is still very original and modern. Thank you for not doing another mundane Corvette/Aura/Malibu style center stack. This interior along with the current Civic’s should win awards for best bang for your buck. Well done.
Please release as many special editions as possible to throw the Mustang’s current sales under the bus. There is no doubt that I am buying a camaro when it comes out in 09′.
I think it’s beautiful..inside and out. I think the interior spy-shots we’ve seen, if accurate, show a refreshingly different instrument panel. Why should all cars look the same inside? And the exterior? Gorgeous. I have a 1/32 scale one on my desk right now. Love it! Great job to the entire Camaro team!
Car looks good….not so much the interior dash.
Think AUTOMETER gauges here guys. Big WHITE ROUND gauges with BIG RED needles. ANalog…no digital crapola.
Also…whats up with the 20 mph increment speedos. Go back to the 10 mph incremental ones.
None of the posted speed limits here are in such increments.
Postings are in 45mph, 55, 65 etc. The 20 mph gauges are hard to read when glancing
We need to be able to glance down and see the reference position without having to actually cognitively “read”
I don’t see Dual Zone Climate Control?! NAV?! Come on, this car is going to be over $30 large. Malibu and Aura no NAV or Dual Zone, Bluetooth?! Come on…GM you are SOOOOO CLOSE! Please stop de-contenting your vehicles! 4 Speed Automatics in the 1/2 ton Silverados and Suburban/Tahoes!!! I would gladly park any of these in my garage if they were not so behind the times. I vote with my dollars. You can crush the competition with your mass production capabilities and going BEYOND them by making optional things like NAV, Bluetooth and Dual Zone Climate at least standard on LTZ/Limited type models.
Please GM, Bring me Back.
Mr. Lutz I own a 1995 camaro and the interior is crap, with plastic all over,I saw the interior photos and that is just plain hideous please change it so when it does come out we will all be happy with it.
Personally I’m glad that the interior is going to be original! Can we have a Nav option please?
Ed,
The Camaro looks great. Unlike the rest of the complainers I like the direction the interior is headed. I understand its a stripped pre-production setup and most of the final trim pieces are not in place. Now just stuff the supercharged 6.2L LS8 under the hood, call it Camaro Z28 and let me know when I can place my order.
~jg
P.S. Make mine hugger orange metallic like the convertible concept please.
Oh, my, god.
GM is going to sell a ton of these. To be honest, when I saw the spy shots I thought it looked pretty bland. It’s amazing how much difference the camo makes.
Anyways, we just got pictures of the interior and I really like it. Most people seem to hate it, but whatever. You could always make up for it with the Firebird
Mr. Peper,
Thank you for the photos. I am saving for either the Camaro or a next generation rear wheel drive Impala. There are many rear wheel drive fans that are eagerly awaiting these cars.
Looks really good, I’m looking forward to the production unit.
My last four cars have been Japanese but this may be able to bring me back to a domestic manufacturer.
Interior looks pretty good even as a pre-production unit just provide some color options like on the Malibu to liven up the dash. No need for a wall of gray plastic. Also option trim packages to improve the interior for those that want to spend the money would be good. I don’t mind spending another $1,500 for an interior with better plastics and more color options.
Also while I know the Camaro, Mustang and Challenger are in the “Muscle Car” segment please pay extra attention to the handling. One of the things that keep me away from the Mustang is the poor handling. I don’t expect it to handle like an RX8, S2000 or an Evo but please make sure it can handle some twisties. Show the world that America can make a fast, agile, great looking and feeling car for a good price.
Thank You.
I love it, can’t wait to see it in black or yellow from a better angle. Keep the pics coming!!

Very nice of you all to put it out there. A little more retro would make me a bit more happier but all in all I like it. I cant wait for the convertible. The interior is not bad at all. Those test guys just need to keep it a little cleaner
I am saving up for one of these babies!
It will look good next to my 01 SS and 80 Z28
Wow, the exterior is looking good, and glad to see the new Camaro coming along!
The interior looks totally out of sorts, and I must say it does not match the rest of the car at all. I am a little disappointed on the interior. Please do not let that interior go to production!
I like it. Very sweet looking body style and, I do like the interior and as was stated earlier, Please do keep the Curb weight down if Chevy/Camaro does really want to compete with the the Mustang and all the Imports. 3400lbs should really be the target weight.
If we all remember the poorly anticipated and awaited 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO. Way too heavy at 3750lbs which made the performance kinda sluggish at an even Bloated price on the window sticker. My 2000 Z28 was quicker and I only paid $22,700 and i ran 13.30s stock no mods
I LOVE IT!
Thanks GM.
Ok, neat looking.. But 1st thing to come to mind is a Ford Mustang anda Dodge Magnum produced a child…
I have a ‘83 Z-28 and other than the interior needing to be redone, works great.
I wa shoping for something similar — maybe just th angle of the photo… Guess I will have to wait some more, but doubt the body will change much this close in…
OMG!!! I have been waiting to get a camaro and even bought a new house with a 3-car garage so I could have a place to keep it warm during the cold winter nights. But I have to be honest, I really like all of the camaro’s during the last 40 years…but this interior shot has me baffled!
I just told my wife forget it! If that spy shot is the production camaro there is no way I can sit in front of that dash and be excited about the car. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE put a nice modern stylish dash…not that cheesy thing!!!
And what’s up with those air vents?? They look like the old grand am air vents…please don’t do it!!!
Looks good. But it’s not the looks that could kill this car, it’s the lack of an LS3 that will kill it.
Don’t mess this up like the GTO the first year, all show and no go. LS3 or no Camaro at all IN THE FIRST YEAR!
Go all in or go home.
not sure why we’re dissapointed? Let’s start with how ‘chunky’ everything looks and general blandness in front of the passenger. The the auxilary gauges on the console are as lame as the ZR1’s skylight.
Is there any creativity on the Camaro design team?
I hate to say it, but i have seen the new mustang in person and it is so much sportier than the camero and challenger. they’re so clunky and beefy compared to the mustang. looks wise, the new mustang can really compete with a lot of foreign cars, and even to an extent the 3-Series coupe. the camero and challenger are an average muscle car. no class, no brains. the mustang on the other hand….
with advances in cadillac with the cts and saturn with their WHOLE LINE UP, and chevy with the malibu and tahoe/suburban….the camaro really classes down GM
What a bunch of whiners. This car is PRE PRODUCTION, as in not finished yet! I’m thrilled GM finally got its head out of the sand and decided to ressurect the Camaro, and to do it as a modern rendition of the first generation. I have confidence in the people at GM from top to bottom, knowing everyone involved will do their part to produce a product second to none…Thankyou, GM, I will be owning a new Camaro!
Ed,
Congratulations on a great exterior for the new camaro. Thank you for keeping it very close to the concept.
I don’t have as kind of words for the spy photos of the interior. Production materials and fit and finish aside; the layout of the center stack is an abomination. I didn’t like the concept interior before, but now even it looks good.
Do not make this another 1st Gen CTS bust on the interior. The center stack needs an emergency redesign before release. Otherwise you’ll be fixing it in the next overhaul just like the CTS.
Thanks,
Cole
Absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait ’til I can pull into my local Chevy dealer in my put-put Aveo and drive away in my powerful new Camaro. The interior spyshots look great also.
I will keep my comments to the interior, since that seems to be the most controversial. Like the exterior, the design “idea” was adapted to fit the G8 platform instead of the Corvette which the concept was built from.
It is a pre-production car, which is done with prototype tooling, not production tooling- meaning the plastic is plasticky, shiny w/ no grain or paint. I expect it will improve significantly upon final production. I did not expect the console gauges from the concept to make it to production, so kudos to the design and engineering team for making it happen!
My biggest gripe is the design seems disjointed shapes between gauges/steering wheel/HVAC and nasty phallic shifter, but I expect the final colors and trim pieces will “hook” everything together.
The HVAC controls look like a “pregnant belly” coming off the dash- that does seem weird.
Wicked Cool body design. Hope it proves to be a reliable and durable competitor against the Honda/Toyota products.
Please, Please, Please scrap the speeedo and tach pods. They be buttugly and I am confident no one could possibly like them as much as I dislike them!
The Camero has generated more commments and fervor on this blog than any other!
Still, it’s a good idea to let Camaro fans see this car as it develops.
In fact, this may evolve into a case where a GM car is, via this blog (or another of GM’s choosing), fine-tuned by direct suggestions from its future buyers. It could prove a new way for automakers to develop successful cars, rather than the usual market surveys, et all.
why do people continue to poo poo the mule interior photos? i think its been explained plenty of times. anyway, i really need to start that camaro fund.
GM,
From an aspiring Automotive Designer, In my opinion the Camaro shot I see here looks like the car is right on track. I like the gills in front of the rear wheel, keep them. Nothing looks wrong here, although I hope the front stays true to concept. I really would pay no attention to the naysayers and naggers trying to mess with success, let them get out the bondo and mods when they get theirs if they don’t like it.
Design the Camaro like the concept ment it to be…a totally awesome, head turning rear-wheel drive performance vehicle that is offered at an attractive price.
The Interior is for the test vehicle, guys, c’mon and quit the whining… I’ll bet there are still designers working on it…
Bob, I have no doubt that you are making sure the New Camaro will be Awesome, and
My Dad plans to buy one…
I absolutely love the Concept, and All of the shots I have seen so far are absolutely on track. I know you all are still working on this car and will get it right. I have no doubt in you GM, with hits like the new Malibu, CTS, Enclave and many recent products,…the sky is the limit. I just have this to say…GM won’t mess this car up…trust me.
This car is gonna be a runaway hit! people either love it or hate it and as anyone who follows cars knows that’s a good thing!
Good job on GM for realizing that the Camaro is a vehicle that’s supposed to invoke passion and emotion.
please leave the middle of the road “clinic” mobiles to Honda and Toyota, from the looks of the raw unfiltered opinions being expressed here, GM is well on it’s way to another design renaissance.
well at least it is coming back. i am happy to see that. unfortunately i see it not much more than a retro camaro. i have owned up to 3 camaro’s at once. i am down to one right now. it takes up enough of my time and attention, it is a 4th gen, which at least was unique when it came out. the 5th gen looks like a new age 69 camaro, imo that was quite dissapointing to see.
if i ever line up next tone on the street and it beats me i’ll sell mine and buy one.
as far as the interior goes, i haven’t seen pics, but haven’t noted the comments from everyone. being on the autmotive launch side of things, i realize the birth of the product and the stages in which it can undergo, especially interiors components, lol!!! anyhow these parts could be SLA’s, most likely off of prototype tools, as someone else mention ungrained. there is alot that goes into maintaining nominal gaps throughout all components, especially A surface parts which everyone touches and feels, and has in plan sight on a daily basis, when behind the wheel of their car. sorry i am yammering now, lol!
look forward to seeing GM bring back a legend, regardless of my opinion, not bad looking, just not original like the 4th gens were, imo.
spanking your 5th Gen,
Taner
I agree with the first comment-the center stack on the interior spy shots looks hideous. Reminds me of GM in the 80s-not a good thing.
Man, GM could screw up the recipe for water.
Way to take an exciting concept car and compromise it into tedium.
And that’s just the exterior, the interior is COMPLETE garbage.
Hopefully these spy shots are just to get some candid feedback before the final dies are cast, as there’s a lot of back-tracking that needs to happen.
The Camaro concept looked like the rebirth of a legend.
This un-camo’d prototype looks like the legend has been aborted.
Come on GM, give us the car the poster promised us, not this.
Honestly, between the weight it’s going to have to add to avoid eating the Corvette’s lunch, plus this tacky styling, plus the inevitable dealer premiums, I might as well save up for the new Subaru WRX STI instead. It’s just as ugly(but just as fast) for about the same price, but at least I’d get reliability and AWD.
Come on GM, you screw up the Camaro and you might as well call it a day.
Love the exterior, although I’m curious why the front hasn’t been revealed.
Still not liking the interior, the rounded dash has curves and hard edges sticking out, and there is a lot of geometry going on, it doesen’t look cohesive.
If it could have a more defined center stack, and have a bit more continuity, that would be great. As would making that lower cluster an option, because it seems to be lacking storage space.
i love the exterior. i like the interior too but it needs improvements like some brushed aluminum or possibly some woodgrain like my 69 and tighter seams.i like the retro look of the gages in front of the center console but just like the 69 they are for looks,i never use them except for cool lighting.i cant wait to see what the SS has to offer
Looks fantastic for a preproduction prototype. People, please remember that is all that it is. It isn’t a finished product. One person close to the project said what we see now (this official pic as well as the recent spy pics of the interior) represent 65% of the way towards a final product. So there is still a long way to go to make this better.
As it is, I love it. Making it even better seems impossible, and that just makes me excited beyond words.
I have to agree with the first post by Brandon Karpowitz. I too viewed the interior spy photos on leftlanenews.com, and find the interior less than inviting. I am saving money to buy the new Camaro when it arrives. However, if the interior from the prototype is what the production will wear, I will be probably consider the other two pony cars (no need to mention any names). I am not a big fan of either Ford or Dodge, but if I am going to spend a bundle of my hard earned money on a car that I will drive daily for a long long time, I might reconsider the options. So, please don’t put that ugly and impractical interior in the real deal. I love what GM have done with the new Malibu and the G8. Both have handsome and classy interiors. Sometimes stepping away from the norm may not be the best. All you have to do is look at BMW’s iDrive. It is certainly different, but is it good?
I love the exterior, but I have to agree that the interior is inferior. I realize that it is not the final production version but it needs to be as good-looking as the exterior. I have been putting off purchasing a new car for the new Camaro. Please, please don’t dissapoint me. And by the way, the handling has to be as good as the exterior if you want a big hit on your hands.
While I understand the spy shots are of a prototype, as other have said, I really hope the interior looks nothing like the interior in the spy shots!
Those of you that justify the interior, you could be right, but what if you’re not? If nobody shouts out “THAT INTERIOR LOOKS HORRIBLE”, and it ends up in the production model, you will wish people had said something before it came out
Other than that, looks good. Maybe I’ll even buy one. I miss my WS6.
looks great
is it still a RWD?
With news that the Impala is going back to a lame FWD platform i wouldn’t be surprised if GM did a FWD Camaro..
How many years is it gonna take for an actual RWD sedan or coupe to hit the streets of the USA???
Excellent move to release “GM” photos of the car. Many of the ’spy shots’ taken don’t do the car justice, …yet they are critiqued to every last detail.
It’s a great way to obtain ‘live’ review/feedback on the production version of the car, …from a photo that more accurately depics it.
…I can’t wait to see it in person : )
Bob, Ed, THANKS! I want to point out to everyone else that posting this photo only underlines the fact that GM is proud and confident in this product. It looks great, period, and it is miles ahead of it’s competition.
Let’s all agree that we are very excited about this car and more than a little defensive of it. I understand that the interior is NOT COMPLETE. It will be refined. I will also vote with my money…on my money it says “In Bob We Trust”
I like the camaro but I saw the pictures of what the Chevelle could look like at GMInsiders.com and I fell in love! Man the way you all are heading I’m ready to trade in all of my cars and go Chevy all the way!!! Bring it on!!!
The interior is hideous.
I can tell you that alll though that may be a rough interior quality-wise, the arrangement is likely to be what we see in production and it stinks. That’s a deal-breaker for me, and I was specifically holding out for this call. Change that awful control head!
I guess I am in the minority here. I think the car is hideous. What’s up with the high belt line and the tiny slit windows? This makes the car look way too big, especially with the 20″ wheels (which adds unnecessary weight!). I’ll bet this pig weighs no less than 3800 lbs.
I love it, inside and out! Remember people, this is a pre-production interior. It is FAR from finished. I personally, love the styling direction. It’s modern, but also pays homage to the 1st gen Camaros and it will be unique instead of from the parts bin. And the exterior is sexy as hell! Thanks Bob, Ed, Scott, and everyone else on the Camaro team. You nailed it and I can’t wait to see one in my garage!
folks, here is a newsflash: If that is indeed a rough version of the interior its not going to be scrapped at this point in the program. The vehicle goes into production in 11 months so you will likely see some form of what was shown in those pics. You can post here 100 times if you wish but they are not going to redesign the interior just because 30 people on this blog don’t like it. With some colors and nice trim I think it will be fine. This is a car that will cost around $25k in base form, maybe even less. It’s not competing with the SLK or G35 coupe so let’s keep things in perspective here.
The more I look at this car, The more I actually like it. What’s appealing to me is that while there are definitely hints that it takes a bow to the muscle car era, it has enough modern design to carry it over to a new generation of buyers rather than pin it all on baby boomers.
The side profile is one of the better looking cars I’ve seen lately. In fact, the sides of the car look more like a European sports coupe.
I’m not about the get into the interior. It is what it is, and the fact that it’s somewhat spare is true to the original.
Looks awesome. I want mine in silver or yellow or black or red, or blue or white!
I Like the exterior shot. I (really really….)hope that the side brake vents have at least some function not just indentations on the sheet metal. Also the side mirrors more practical as they are in this version, are completely way too big. I was hoping for something in the middle between this and the concept. As far as the interior spy photos I’m ok with most of the interior(realizing this is not production quality and finish I.E. the borrowed interior seat). Yet I think the steering wheel and column are way to big(looks like a torpedo coming out of the dash). Again something in the middle (given the concepts steering wheel does not house an airbag)would have been great. Lastly the a/c vents are just horrible, like any other air vent out there. Something closer to the concepts but more functional would have been nice.
Ed and Bob,
First, I want to congratulate you two on a very well done job on the Camaro (and other new GM models) and with handling the public (especially with this site).
I have every intention of purchasing a z28 version of the new Camaro but please post some notice telling me and most everyone else that the interior in the spy shots is not the production version not just regarding gap fitting (we all know its a test mule) but in style (new ‘bu is great) and features (sat nav-its 2008 and 09 by the time it hits the road). Plus, please equip bigger brakes on a sports car with 20″ wheels.
The retro design of the new Camaro is the best, but that dash and console instrument thing sucks; one of the few things I disliked about those original cars. Why on earth would you be looking at your consul to check yor oil psi? I just took delivery of a new Soltice GXP and I’ve heard you are putting more emphasis on interiors. My last car was a 2002 Cavalier, much maligned for it’s cheap interior and I have to admit, it was better than my new Solstice.
Screams cheap. The seats look very cheap, almost flat. Lack of bolstering and style. Certainly doesn’t look like the typical Holden car.
While I’ll be buying a Camaro, I wonder why GM is not working to replace the Cobalt, G5 and Aveo. I am a shareholder too and think the Cobalt is way too more important than Camaro for my investment
Hello Ed & Bob,
I would like to congratulate you and your teams of designers and engineers for creating a downright mean, sexy and stealthy beast of a car. I really think you guys hit the nail on the head when it comes to this vehicles’ design, as it is well balanced and evokes the need to own one… or two.
For many people Apple Inc. is considered to be the leader in industrial design and creates some of the world’s most desirable products, aesthetically pleasing, functional, elegant and simple. I feel that GM should take a page from their (Apple’s) book when it comes to human interface design, functionality, and ease of use & implement some unique navigational electronics in the Camaro’s interior. For instance OLED displays, HUD (head up displays), a big colour LCD or OLED screen for communication/multimedia connectivity, Stereo Bluetooth 2.0, improved ergonomics and lines that match or exceed the cars exterior ‘wow’ factor. In other words, this car’s interior needs to be refined and streamlined and not necessarily pay homage to something that is ancient and obsolete.
Remember, design has come a long way since the 60’s 70’s etc. The Camaro shouldn’t be just an American Muscle car reborn. We live in times where technology and design transcends cultures, is global and see’s no barriers. I’m assuming that you are creating a 2009/2010 ‘dream machine’ for the masses, so you should really try and cement consumers’ buying impulses with a stunning finish – throughout. This would also mean marketing this car globally with less emphasis on just ‘Americana’.
As I live in Melbourne Australia, it is great to see us Aussies contributing to this project greatly and playing a pivotal role in its final stages of conception. I hope that you guys at GM in the US recognize that the Camaro is as much Aussie as it is American – in fact, international. Therefore I hope to see these beasts in all their glory roaming the streets of Melbourne and beyond, in a native right side driver set-up, with a reasonable price point that isn’t double that of the US. Please do not dissapoint us here in the land of Oz.
Yours truly, Mr. Pantic
P.S. I am counting the months, days, hours, minutes and seconds till I get mine. In the mean time, I will just have to continue caressing all 7 of my 1:6 scale Jada Toys remote control replicas.
Yes! I can’t wait for this car to come out. Looking good GM! Please produce a ZL-1.
I’m willing to bet that if we found out how many of the critics of the interior on this post actually realize that the interior of the Prototype is far from finished; that’d give a good indication of who to take seriously, and who to disregard. And probably more than 75% of the naysayers in here fit snugly into that “Disregard” category….
Not to mention the fact that bringing the interior at all was a little uncalled for. As I don’t think that’s what this blog was about.
Pass along to the whole Camaro team – if you would, that I for one, greatly appreciate the work they’re doing – keep it up!
Can you guys say SNAP-TITE MODEL!!!?? I too, leased a car in time for this, or the Challenger to come out.Again you see how they prime us for a hot car and this is what we get. Kinda reminds me of when Mcdonalds sells me a BIG MAC on a poster it’s looking yummy …but when I get it it looks like Hernano was having a bad day and took it out on my food. Mr. Lutz, check this out ok, give back some of the money they pay you and invest it in your company’s products, or suffer the wrath of Mustang cross shoppers and the rest of the educated car buying public. I have had 4 Camaros …..so my opinion counts.
Those that do not like the interior should have said so when the show car was revealed.
The interior is just a productionized version of the show car design.
Looks awesome to me! inside and out. I like it better than the concept.
5thgen69camaro
good god man what are you thinking? how do you expect to sell this car to women with no cup holders?
smooth out that hideously out of proportion dash! it looks like someone grabbed up all the dash features and made them smaller than they shouldbe and then scrunched them up in front of the steering wheel.
i am loving the car, i am fearing the dash will be a perverted representation of the concept.
I hope GM is smarter than to allow that tacky, gross interior to make the final cut. It would be a shame if it did. That is why GM slipped to 2nd place; poor quality inside and out. See Corvette interior also…it sucks too. Maybe I should just buy a Nissan GTR. G!
exterior = beautiful
interior = not
especially the steering wheel!
…Look at that stocky trunk/rear…ya just want to hug it! Thank gosh this car is coming back. Thank You GM – It was my 1st Car, It’s gonna be my last. As long as it says Camaro on it, I’ll drive it.
I saw the spy photos that prompted the “lift the camo” directive. That sounds good to me; the Camaro design has not grown old since its concept debut.
But to my eye, the most interesting thing on the car carrier in the spy photos was the Commodore sportwagon. I have mentioned it here before, but let me reiterate: Please sell this car in the US. It’s exactly what I’m waiting for.
Hi Ed,
Looks like another hit is on the way! People have no clue about prototype interiors, but needless to say that the interior will be very cool once completed. The house of Chevrolet is looking to be shaping up one new car at a time. Good luck at the NAIAS with the Malibu!
The exterior is pretty much what I would expect. The good ends there.
The interior — man, I really do understand the desire to create something unique for Camaro inside. The problem is that interiors from the 60’s died in the 60’s for many reasons. They weren’t practical. They didn’t look very good. This “modern” interpretation of the 1st Gen’s interior is no exception. The square gauge pods are cheesy. Ugly, in fact. The radio/HVAC controls look lifted from a Sega Genesis controller. So is this supposed to be a retro 60’s interior or a retro 90’s interior? The whole thing looks like a hodge-podge of themes. And I am NOT criticizing materials or fit. I fully understand it’s a work in progress. It’s the overall theme that is so disappointing.
Quite honestly, you do something like this on a niche retro vehicle like the SSR. Not a high-volume sports coupe. And I think it’s interesting that Corvettes get modern interior designs — I can’t imagine Chevy ramming an interior like this through their enthusiasts on the C7. I am sad to say that my overall enthusiasm for the new Camaro has taken a nose dive after seeing these pictures. I hope when the final production car is unveiled, my spirits (and faith in Chevrolet) are restored.

i thought i saw a sun roof,thanks for that.
please hurry up i need a new camaro,i want to get rid of my 06 mustang,im not a ford person, but i had to buy a cheap mustang to get me by,till you build my car.
I love the new Camaro! I can’t wait to buy one. For all the people who don’t like the inside of the car maybe you all should learn how to spell camaro before knockin the car. I guess we can all tell who the real camaro fans are here.
Mr. lutz
Chevrolet is on to something amazing with the new camaro. From my standpoint as a car fan and drag racing fan i think there is sum inportant features that need to be offered. For one there needs to be a solid axle option avalible. Second it needs to have a bitchin interior im talkin hurst shifter big tach performance seats and everything else that makes a camaro a camaro. Third u need to have a 600+ H.P engine avalible because i plan on goin out and spankin sum challengers and sum mustangs. And fourth of all and probaly the most inportant it needs to be affordable for the common man. the camaro doesnt need to exceed 45,000 dollars no matter what options are selected. cant wait to drive one. thanks 4 ur time
So far the exterior looks great, and hopefully the interior will be redone to match the beautiful exterior. By the time the Camaro arrives in the showrooms, it’ll be mid or late 2009. In order for it to compete, it must offer many options. Here is a wish list of what I think should be either standard or available options in the Camaro:
1. GPS
2. Xenon headlamps
3. Paddle shifters
4. Push-start button
5. Chrome door sills with Camaro logo
6. Premium audio system with built-in hard drive for music, 6-disc CDs and MP3 plug-in jack
7. Blue-tooth
8. Self dimming rear-view mirror
9. On-board computer that shows outside temperature, mph, avg speed, and distance to empty
10. Automatic on/off headlamps
11. Power sunroof
12. Leather wrapped steering wheel
13. Choice or leather or chrome shift knob
14. Keyless entry
15. Remote start
A, save me one!
It looks awesome. I hope GM takes them on tour and has them at the autoshow in motion events. It would be a great time to get more pre-release feedback.
This new Camaro looks absolutely great, And I would like to an interior that can match the looks of the exterior. These gauges down-low seem pointless, who would look at them while your revving up the engine through a corner?? As a Dutchmen living in Germany I do hope the driving charactaristics are tested and set-up on Germany’s Nurburgring, like it was done for the new CTS. If so, handling wont be a problem!
By the way, great way to get the opinion of the crowds and listening to the market.
being a worker in the plant I must say that I think it is taking too long for this camaro. We should building this thing right now.
Enough with the teasers, get the car to market like yesterday.
Wonderful vehicle. Can’t wait to actually ride and drive one.
I put a deposit down, almost two years ago, after seeing this I can’t wait, it feels like the day will never arrive.
Great job to all involved in the return of a legend.
Gordon,
GM seems to lag behind.. They talk up their cars and then take a long time to actually release them. I remember when the Solstice was a big deal, back when it first was shown as a concept it was awesome… but after seeing it as a concept car for so long the newness wor off to me. GM needs to be very careful on this stuff. The main problem is that their fans are demmanding things but nothing is being released yet. So they release information and then take forever on their actual products, by then the money burning a hole in the GM fan’s pocket has made half of them go out and buy another car that fits the need.
Just my thoughts
Yep I bought a last Monte SS to get me by, but sometimes its annoying to be watching this car come along and yet you cant get it NOW, and heck by the time it comes out who knows….
Ed,
As someone who has been very critical of GM, I must say I am more excited to buy a new Camaro than I have ever been to buy any car! You folks get it! A car that appeals to a broad range of people because of tight, crisp style, modern refinement, and yet retains the aura of a classic Camaro. I have been folowing the development of the car and every move since I saw the silver prototype at the 2006 Auto Show.
It cannot come soon enough!
I saw the High Resolution image of the same shot on this blog. I must say im not happy with the fake white/silver simulation trim along the tail light, and the true backup lights that appear as a slit half way down the bumper. Also the Gas cap was perfect in the concept. From the same image mentioned before and some inside sources it sucks that you put the gas cap on the side and to top it off on the opposite side of the driver.ARghhhh. I hope somehow thats corrected before production(could be an autralian thing?). What can I say were just the buyers no one listens to us ,I can sacrafice a few things like the door handles the b pillar the rim sizes, ect. But is every corner being cut to save some pennies?
2nd place? Gm has been in 20th place for a long long time. Interiors like this one are exactly why.
Since when did the GM styling people turn the “retro” camero into the Ford Mustang? This car looks nothing like the silver one at the auto show a few years ago. What happend the sharp edge design? I haven’t seen any of the interior pics yet, but I hope they don’t disappoint like the outside.
Ok Bob, time to call in the Malibu and CTS interior teams and send them down under. The guys down there are not doing so well on the interior. I really like the exterior, but as it stands, I’ll be giving my 30k to someone across town.
I decided in 2006 that the next car I buy would be a Camaro. I have been watching the development of this car since I saw it in 2006. I love the interior in the concept. but the interior in the test mule is awful. Please, either be more true to the concept in regards to size color and placement of the guages, or use the Cadillac CTS as a point of reference. The bulky shape house the radio in the test mule must go and the four guages must be pulled from under the dash.
great looking car interior looks great to. can’t wait!
As far as the interior is funcional and has a minimum quality level, it really doesn’t matter. This car is about an “statment” to the outside. Nobody never cared about mother’s uterus!!!
Bob and Ed, don’t let this put you down.
Ed and the Entire Camaro Team:
I guess everyone has their opinions. Not everyone agrees about everything and that is what makes this country (USA) great.
Having said that, I would like to throw my 2 cents worth into this.
I have been following all the rumors, catcalls, facts, photos and drawings since the first ones leaked out just before the NAIAS in January 2006. I have watched the development of this car as time progressed and you folks were willing to share what you could.
As far as I am concerned, I am tickled to death with the progress made on this car. My only disappointment was the addition of the “B” Pillar. But, I eventually accepted the reasoning behind it.
Having said all that, I would also like to comment on everyone’s scatalogical complaints about what they see in the various photos (Official or otherwise) showing the Camaro while it is being devloped.
Settle down folks, get a grip onthis. Virtually every vehicle manufactured today, undergoes this same type of development during production preparation.
Basedon what I have seen with recent GM designs, in particular the interiors, I think the end product will be somewhat spectacular by the time Camaro hits the showrooms.
Hang in their! Cheryl, John and Scott, keep the fire burning!!
John Green
Just as a side note i think it would be awesome if there was a Heads Up Display option for the camaro.
Everything looks great so far from all I’ve seen except for one thing. Those tailights have got to be adjusted. A set of 4 squared off with rounded edges would look better. These make me think they were an afterthought in the design and the hemisphere design looks as if they were cut off something else and made to fit the concept.
I’m a camaro contesouer from way back, it’s about time, love and beauty, thank you G.M. (SINCE 1967)born in 1950!
I think the new camaro looks absolutely Bitchin’. Can’t wait till they’re out.
Great looking car. Not as good looking as the concept. If you have seen the front, what is up with the cheap grill and beady headlamps?
My first car was an 80’s Camaro, and I am glad to see the best elements of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s made it into this new design.
Love that your bringing the camaro back and it looks great.
Just a few things that i’d like included if your listening. Can u add some functional stuff to the interior like NAV and a good cd player with ipod interface (no need to put in a dvd player theres no use for it).
Also dont forget the aussies who helped build this car cus im a aussie and i would love to buy a right hand drive camaro for a reasonable price.
P.S. lets see you guys release some new pics of the front the rear and possibly a production interior if youve got it and please make it in a colour that we can see all the vents and stuff the white really doesnt show everything clearly.
Outside = excel
Interior = disappointing
The only thing I would change about the exterior are the reverse lights. Why not make the bumper smooth and split the two inner rear lights for reverse? As for the interior, please do not inclulde a bulge arond the center console. Make it more true to the concept wihout the bulging Xplod console, or make resemble the CTS. And I liked the metal anodized finish on the conept guages better. You could even consider a color varioation of gold, silver, white, or red like the GTO had. I still love the car
Nice looking vehicle all around. Any plans for a high performance supercharged diesel engine?
the car looks great, but I am a little surprised with the rear lines you didn’t come up with tail lights simular to the 69’s. You could have gone all the way across with the R&L side with the 3 slanted type lens.Just a thought, hope supercharged rumers are true for the Z-28 can;t wait.
I personally like the styling but there are a lot of people out there that I’ve spoken with that do not like the rear of the car at all. They love the other 80% of it but I think the rear styling of the car will prevent it from becoming the big hit that it could be if everything were just right. I have read and heard the reviews from the average consumer and it’s not as positive as the comments on here.
GM. The shots of the 2010 Camaro are great. I’ve been patiently awaitibng this car for a while down. I just say the pictures of inside the car and wanted to say that the idea od the 4 extra gauges on the center colomn is a cool idea. but I was wondering if someone could explaion to me the RPM and Tac-ometer idea. cause i cant really tell if its a digital read out for both with an older style number system for alooks, or does it actually use the outside lying numbers on the gauge to show how fast you r agoin and at what rpm.
I believe this is a very good step forward for GM. I have been a Camaro fan since I was 5 now ill be 24 when it comes out. But ill buy mine at 25 i want the Z28 package. With every Option THEIR IS! Thankfully ill have 20k saved by then maybe a lil less. So my Payment on that Beast wont break the bank. I was just born in the wrong time. i wish i was born in the 50’s to buy the 67 RS/SS Camaro but i wasnt. So ill buy this one with all bells and whistles and do what they did in the 60′S keep in storage and drive it only on the weekends so i can have it for 40 years like the renegades from the 60′S that still have their Camaro’s. Being the Origonal Owner will be a GREAT privledge and honor to these cars. Cant wait to see them up close and Test Drive one.
Mr Lutz i think the camaro is awsome looking you guys did 1 hell of a job on it there is one down fall for me it is not really that big of a deal i think it would be a good idea to put eather the 6.2 liter supercharged or the 7.0 liter out of the zo6 in the camaro ss we need something to really put down that p.o.s mustang and the new chargers.i will buy a ss when thay come out no matter what but it would be good to have that 500+hp thanks john brooks
It looks fantastic! But gas will soon be at $5.00 a gallon. It will sit in your dealerships and you’ll scratch your heads and wonder why it isn’t selling. I would love to buy one but I’m a realist and won’t buy one until you bring out an EV Camaro. It’s not that you can’t – because we all know you can. It’s time, Mr. Lutz.
I have been following this car for the last few years..The more I catch up on what’s happening with it, the more I want it! My husband wont tell me no, so I will be driving the SS model when “she” comes out! HA! I cant wait! I already have a space cleaned out in my garage for her! GOOD JOB guys, keep it up!
I would like to know when I can buy one! I think it is the most amazing car I have ever seen.
OMGSH!!! i absolutely LOVE this car i hope this is the car i get for my 16th bday
I do love the body and the exterior, I do have to say i am not fond of the dash set up, mainly the tach and speedometer. I do like the gauges on the center column though. I am looking forward to buying my first f-body though.
I LIKE!!!!… wait scrath that. I LOVE!!!!! someone please let me know how much its gonna cost?!?!
Well I have been doing more reserch and I found out that there is a camaro SS coming out and I am SOOOOO stoked that there is one coming out. As soon as they go on sale I am deffinately gonna buy one.
P.S. one thing I would like to say is, congradulations to all the people that were involved in designing the new camaro. You guys made a fantastic muscle car.
The exterior design is impressive. Hope the interior turns out very close to the prototype.
From the outside looks this is my favorite, but this might change dependent on how the interior turns out.
Looks fantastic! I had to trade my 4th gen (2001 Z28) in due to my commute/gas prices, but I definitely want to re-indulge myself in one of these babies. Vents in front of the rear wheels would be sweet, and hopefully the interior won’t be too gaudy….but all in all…I GOTTA HAVE ONE!
I know most people like the set-up of the inside cabin,, but personaly, i would have liked to see a more updated and curent setup with gauges and levers and radio options, but with the same body style,, because the outside is “slamin”……
Please, PLEASE make sure you offer the hide away headlights as an option…trust me, I know plenty would be willing to upgrade for that option!!!
The Camaro Convertible is the best looking version of the camaro EVER. Do not change a thing! the rear end from the side view, the antenna, the front end.. the sides everything is absolutely amazing on it. I hope the coupe is similar!
Stunning, all out the best 21st century look of any manufature. You must insist on fit and finish. What are the chances of making a hard top converitble?
Hey, The Camero is so sweet! Its truly an amazing car. You guys definitely did a great job building it. The question i have is whats the prices on those casue i have a 69 chevelle i would be willing to trade in for one.
The car is awesome and I can’t wait! The dash is just fine the way it is. I love the retro large size meters and the 2-tone interior colors. Don’t change anything there. One comment put down the Mustang and the Charger but other than the Vette, we’ve got nothing else affordable for the average American. I have a Mustang now but I had a ‘70 Javelin SST I liked. My all-time favorite was my prized 1988 Monte Carlo SS. So thank you Chevy for giving us a new ‘real’ drive!
Looks just Ok…far cry from the concept…disappointing in my book….will wait for the coupe and see how that fits the bill. Man, thought I’d found my dream car when the concept emerged…now this one is just ‘ho-hum’. Sad.
Omg, the new camaro is baddd i love it it looks mean wich is a good thing don’t get me wrong and i also love the interior but one little thing is bugging me which i sthe rims they look like the aveos kind of but anyways if i was to own one i wouldn’t be complaining at all! so i guess if you haven’t figured it out now i’ll tel you i give this chevy and thumbers up!
sincerely an 11 yr. old!
Looks good except for the interior.
cant wait for the new camaro,i own 3 different ones,i love them, and there all mustang killers, and know the new one will be too!!if you own a bowtie your a pimp…keep up the good work GM………..
I like the retro look and want a convertible SS. I want the SS version to include the 505 HP LS7 engine and hideaway lights option like the vintage RS package had. Put vintage-looking SS insignia on the center of the grille, both fenders (behind front wheels) and on the rear…and get rid of the Chevy bowtie…it’s tacky looking. Also, include the 427 cubic inch insignia (not in liters), on the fenders too. Paint the rear panel black to signify an SS model. Lastly, offer Brembo brakes.
I have a 1979 camaro and love it. I currently work for Audi so I see and know a lot about cars. However, I think the front end and grill of this car is very poor. The lights just look cheap and the hood is kind of square. I would like to see you put some more work into the front end of the car.
It looks sweet but perhaps chrome or stainless surrounds for the windshield like the first gen cars would dress it up a little, And please make the thing affordable for the average working man
I saw a new camaro on the highway last week and I must say I am very impressed. I thought Ford did a good job on the Mustang but I think GM has once again outdone the competition. I can’t wait to test drive one.
the new camaro is freakin awesome!!!!!!
I agree with the last few comments. I was really excited about the concept and love the 69 SS but the final product disapoints. Its too small, too generic-chevy looking (a bow tie?!), the front-end looks tacky and the interior is awful. To be honest, if they gave it a decent suspension I would buy a Mustang now.
The convertible is great. I’m not going to comment on looks, interior, or power. I buy only american cars and only convertibles. Why do I have to buy another Jeep Wrangler while I wait two more years? I’ve been waiting for this convertible for three years now, and it appears I’m likely two years away. Can’t Chevy introduce the convetible at the same time as the coupe?
what date is the chevy camaro comeing out to the dealers so people can buy them
Ahhhh
I went from a 2002 Camero to a Corvette, yet would take that convertible in a heartbeat.
I think the camaro convertible should be produced sooner so they can be bought in 2009 because i have serious plans in getting one and would like to get the convertible next year instead of having to wait til 2010
i love camaros, and i love the throwback design on the 5th gen. one. i have to say the shifter is too short, use something similar to what is on corvettes now. also, please make sure the tradition of low cost that led to quotes such as “poor man’s corvette” and “corvette like muscle for those with a corvair like budget” continues. overall, this is a very hot mustang killing ride:)
Thank goodness for the Camaro. GM is finally going to take BACK its place from those Mopar hacks. I wonder with all the success enjoyed by Mopar and Ford with the whole retro lines, why hasn’t GM done the same with GTO and Camaro long ago. My generation is waiting for our old hereos to return, looks like they are. Well done!!!
I love the Camaro and the Camaro Convertible!!! I can’t wait to go to the auto show and sit in them! Chevrolet is one of my favorite brands of GM! GM is the best car company ever (in my opinion)!!!!! All I have to say is thank you GM for building another wonderful car! Chevrolet and GM rule!
Lets hope for 3 things in this car number one: Price , two: dependability three: upgrade-ability . a.w.d. would be smart hence the nissan gt-r (watch ur butts chevy competition is about to arrvie very soon) im a lover of all cars but lets face it its time for some help with the handleing and comfort of the ride mabie tempur-pedic with work out a deal for the seat’s
. lol . gl gm lets really see what u got for us rember your supposed to represent US (the people) not corporate intrest .. for once … please .
I love the new exterior, the bigger rear-wheel size, its simply awesome. i do agree with some other people on the speedometer & rpm’s whats up with that?? i like the gauges on the center console & the rest of the interior isn’t bad either but those gauges!!!!
The new Camaro looks awesome for the most part. Aside from the looks inside and out, PLEASE don’t pull a Ford and give this baby an outrageous sticker price and do not restrict the production in efforts to further increase the sales price or it will suffer the same fate the Thunderbird and Cougar did. Also, you better put the best fuel efficient engine in it you can find since gasoline will never be cheap again apparently.
I can’t wait to see one up close and personal!
I have two word that describes the camaro, and that is sleek and stylish! I think GM has done a great job with the new camaro.
I have to have this car!!! The first time I saw it I fell in love! I currently have a chevy and love it and I can’t wait to upgrade to the Camaro! Great Job
need to make the convertible a hard top! The rag top takes away from the toughness of the car.
its about time, what a great looking muscle car .
The car looks great. A few of the retro touches don’t make alot of sense like auxiliary gauges that are way out of normal view. However, the retro feel is right on and the car will be a hit if it has the proportions and wheel sizes as shown. Too bad sales will be small; with $5 gas coming this car is going to be a weekend toy and not that much of a daily driver. I just can’t imagine driving one with a 6 cylinder engine no matter what.
This car is a work of art. One of the most beautiful cars in a long time.
Exterior and Interior look fantastic! Don’t change a thing.
Long Live Detroit, The Bow Tie, and Camaro. Great Job fellas, an instant classic!!!
I hope GM troubles don’t foil plans for the Camaro release? Anyhow, just please offer a base model with all performance goodies as an option, including 6-speed manual and 400-hp V-8. If I had my wish, it would be a plain-jane, stripper to keep the cost down. After all, Camaro has always been a “poor man’s Corvette”. GM, don’t lose sight of your target market. Heck, I don’t even want power windows. Can you say COPO?
Why is it taking forever to get this car to market? There is no other car company in the world that I know of that take so long to bring a product to market.
Don’t change a thing. It looks stellar. Cant wait to get my hands on one.
Please move the Camaro over to the EREV Platform. Its a beautiful car but no one will want one with 10 buck a gallon gas looming in the horizon. Dont go broke with a ICE version of this car, it deserves
better. Only the rich people will drive it and the poor people might buy it just to look at it because they cant afford to drive it.
I have been a chevy fan my whole life, I won’t drive anything else. My favorite used to be the vette but now its second to the 2010 camaro, I love it. Even though I can never afford a new car its still number one on my wishlist.
OMG! I can NOT wait! I have always and only owned CHEVY!
I am so stoked about this car!!! I will have one someday!!! My old dream car, ‘68 Camero SS, has been replaced by it’s newer version. I have never deviated from the love of the ‘68 Camero until now, and I can’t imagine this model being topped out. Thank you for a stunningly, beautiful and an outstanding performance producing automobile. Forever devoted to the Camero, Trina/catztayl584
GM I believe I share the same opinion as alot of us, keep it basic meat and potatoes are what everyone wants , power and performance that all we really want not all the flashy luxury of something its not intended to be . This car is a muscle car plan and simple , stepping back and sticking with the basics will keep this car affordable and desired for years
GM whats up!!!!!!I love the camaro.I love everything about it.I just wish you guys would hurry up and start selling it already.I have a ‘99 camaro and I dont let anyone drive it and I wouldnt be caught dead driving anything but my camaro.I would only give it up for this new one. Please dont change a thing on this car.Keep it the way it is and just make sure its faster than a mustang gt and a challenger r/t,as long as you do that Im pretty sure everyone is going to want a camaro.
I can’t wait for the 2010 Camaro to come out! I have been waiting for this day since 2002 when they canceled the F-Body.
However, I think it still needs some work. First the fake Z06 style scoop needs to be removed and the grill needs to be squared off a little (like the ‘69 it is modeled after) not the “V” shape it currently is. Also, the headlights need to either be round or be behind doors. Please change the squared oval tail lights. If you must keep quad lights please square them like ‘67-’68, or do the right thing and put 3 square lights at both ends once again look at the 1969 for inspiration, not everything Chevy makes needs to be “Corvette Inspired,” make it different like the Camaro has always been.
I can not wait to get my order in. I need another great car to sit next to my ‘97 Camaro SS.
The Camero looks really good. Can’t wait until more information is revealed such as pricing and the actual date it hits the showroom and for the test drive.
Melisa
What is taking so long for you to produce the Camaro!..I think I saw it in the movie Transformers like 3 years ago! Seriously, it’s taking waay too long..the design concept may grow stale in people’s minds if you take too long..we’ve seen this car already.
This car is awesome!!!! The first time I saw it in the movie Transformers I wanted one. I love this car so much!!! I didn’t get to enter the contest though for the chance to win one, but I wanted to so bad! Everything about this car is awesome and it rocks. I wanted a 69 Camaro before, but now I want this one. This car is the best and I hope I can get one.
when will i see some pictures of the camaro with z28 emblems thank you
Come on GM! You have it in you to give us a hard top conv., you proved it with SSR. Love the old school look and all, but its time for the hard top look! Plus it would keep a theft from cutting open the top, like the top on my Firebird now. So, PLEASE think about a conv. hard top!!!
Hey love the car is perfect. not only do i want to ride in it but hopefully own it. my life is cars just to bad i wouldnt be able to even make a payment… but some day i will have my turn hopefully again love the car
To whom it may concern @ G.M.
HURRY UP WITH THE CAR!!! I work @ a Chevy dealer and we get at least 1-3 people a day wanting to buy or see a new Camaro!! The excitement is now, HURRY so we can get the car on the road.
As an avid Chevy owner for 30 years I must say I like the new Camaro very much. I’m on the “waiting list”. However I do need to voice my opinion about Chevrolet interiors, not only on the Camaro but in every Chevy (GM) product. When can we have a choice of interior colors like in the “OLD” days? I can’t stan another tan/gray or grafite seat. What ever happened to the the 10 different colors to choose from? I really want a white interior in my new Camaro. I may have to have an interior made locally after I purchase the car. I also must echo those who feel that the camaro should have been out a year ago. Or at least have a preproduction car touring the car shows. Dont force me to buy Ford…….
Well the pictures of the new camaro are spectacular. I will probably not see the real thing until they come out becouse i live in Oregon and chances are I will never own one but I cannot wait to see it on the road.
I am 23 and through JR high and High School my neighbor had a 69 SS tricked out. I sat in that car and just wished that I could have it. Y’all have done a world better than I could have ever wished. You have given a new generation their own bad A Camaro. I am a professional now and I can tell you that I will be standing in line to get my dream car. Then I will take it back home and race my old neighbor.!
Hey guys,
This is awsome front to back. There is not a thing I can really find that needs to be tweaked on this car. I am hoping that the materials used inside are not cheap like some of them used in the GM products sitting in my driveway.
I currently own 3 GM vehicles and I am happy with all of them, and am looking forward to adding this to the collection.
It is long overdue to have the “American Muscle” brought back and with such a VINTAGE twist on it!
LONG OVERDUE!!! If the mechanics on this are as good as the cosmetics, you will have nothing to worry about at all!!
Thanks for bringing it back!
I purchased a new 2008 gmc truck jan 17 2008 and a 2007 pontiac g6 convertible sports package the following week for my wife and I can tell ya this the new camero convertible is next on my list to buy for my son the moment it shows up on the dealers lot
Hi:
Love the car except for one thing. No hardtop convertible.
My wife says she will by a corvette as soon as you come out with a hardtop convertible and I’m kind of the same way about the camaro. I want the car, I want a convertible but I CAN”T STAND rag tops .
I looked at the Cadillac XLR-V but I just don’t like the lines of the car. I do however like the Camaro, especially with the SS paint job such as the one on the orange car in your video or the one from Transformers.
So please consider the power retractable roof option on some of your other cars.
Hmmmm….. why does it have to look like that? Last time I checked it was 2008 and not 1968. Nostalgia isn’t going to cut it in today’s market. If you have to have a retro Camaro, how about bringing back the Firebird on the same platform but giving it a completely different and contemporary look. Perhaps you could even go somewhat futuristic with the Firebird. To me, the previous generation of F bodies was the best looking of all the generations. In particular, I loved the smooth and sleek look of the Firebird Formula. Also, the Camaro interior is horrid. The instrument cluster looks OK but those silly gauges on the console??? Put them where they belong! In front of the driver. I’m going to hold out for something else to replace my 2005 Grand Am GT coupe. Come on GM. Give us Pontiac enthusiasts a Firebird or G8 Coupe!
Nick
It would be great to see the new Convertible as a 3 piece hard top…….
The Camaro looks great every single bit of it does. I really like the interior to. This car is definently a mustang killer i cant wait for this car to come out
lOOKS FANTACSTIC! IF IT HAS GOOD FUEL EFFICIENCY, IT SHOULD BE A SHOW STOPPER. ILL BE LOOKING FORWARD TO ITS APPEARANCE!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK USA!
MR.PHIL
Please don’t make we wait till 2010 to Buy the Convertible! I want/need it now!
The 2010 Camaro is ridiculously beautiful!!! Can’t wait to have one. Thanks Chevrolet!
Thank you for bringing the Camaro back.
I am a long time Chevy lover and am glad to see Chevy changing with the times and providing good product now.
If I may suggest the following; Please have heavy to the touch instrument buttons, gauges and knobs. Like that in German vehicles. Cheap plastic, light to the touch doesn’t have a quality lasting feel to it.
The only other idea, can you do a COPO or a strippo version. Steel wheels maybe 17 or 18″, dog dish hubcaps, bare bone, no stripes, maybe a reference to engine size with huge power and drive train, simple interior maybe vinyl, looped carpet? I will buy this version. This is my preference.
Lots of people are watching to see if Chevy can pull this off. I have been cheering for you!
This is a stunning design, retro hints without being stuck in the past. Unlike some drivers, I am content with the SS moniker even if the Z28 is no longer in the picture. I do, however, agree with some that I hope that the interior is a bit more restrained than the photos I have seen. I lease a BMW and might consider a switch to the Camaro if mileage and pricing prove acceptable.
I think it sucks! This car looks like a cross between a Mustang and a Dodge. Get real! My first car was a mustang and I went to camaro because I enjoyed the appearance and the muscle. Get back to reality. This is nothing I would have ever pictured a Camaro to be. I was excited about the 99 concept. You guys screwed up. I don’t want to look like everyone else on the road! I was looking forward to buying the new Camaro, Guess I’ll stick with my Silverado SS
Can I get an LS7 power plant with this???
cut your losses and kill this bloated pig NOW …
you’ll never sell enough to cover for the cost
that you incurred to date.
for the love of god, please do the right thing.
While there is substantial call for more fuel efficient cars, you can’t ignore us folks who, quite frankly, don’t care about fuel efficiency as much as style and performance. GM doesn’t have to make many fast, good looking, great handling cars with V6s and V8s, but they still need to make some – and not in Corvette price territory.
I love the Camaro, God bless you all at GM for bringing it back, and my CD will mature in April next year – coincidentally, the exact month the Camaro is scheduled for full production and sale. I’ll take my SS or Z28 in silver, black leather with that great orage stitching from the concept, and a 6 speed manual.
Those who want a chartruse econobox with 15″ wheels and a sewing machine motor, you need not bash the Camaro.
Bob,
I really like the interior and the how they are laid out. I like that it has a little bit of an old school look with the technology of today. Just can’t wait to have on in my driveway. Just wish there was a little more information out there, so that I can start designing mine NOW!
To Ed and Bob
The new Camaro looks amazing and I can’t wait to get one for myself. The body lines and 60’s look of the car really give the car the classic camaro look. I was wondereing what the price range is for the car from base model to the premium luxury edition.
Man, I remember when my Dad gave me his 1972 Camaro and me and my Grandfather rebuilt the engine in it. From there I acquired a 1983 Camaro and also an 1987 Camaro, I can’t wait until the new Camaro comes out. As I always say I’ll have a mustang for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in between. There is nothing like the Camaro.
I LOVE the Camaro! I can’t wait to get one (if its not way expensive) I’ve allways loved the camaro i owned a 97 rs and now i have the charger but once the camaro comes back out it will be traded in for the camaro! Im so excited its a great looking car.. hurry up with the release!
I had a 1994 Z28, and can’t wait to put a convertible in my garage!!!
O MY GOD!! This is the best GMC vehicle that has been invented, and possibly the best they will come up with. The interior looks amazingly awsome! The outside is the best it could ever be. The first time I ever saw the new Camaro was in the movie Transformers. I fell in love with it from the start. Overall it makes me sick, because I wont be able to have one when I turn sixteen. My wish isjust to ride in the in passenger seat of one…heck I would ride in the back! You did good guys!
OMG! I’m dying over here!!! I CAN NOT WAIT for this car to come available!!! From the 1st time I saw it in the movie Transformers (and could not focus on anything else in the movie after that) I have been dying for this to come available. I have a ‘97 RS right now with an awesome custom paint job ~ but as much as I love her – she is retiring once I can get my hands on this one!!!! GREAT JOB!!! You got me hooked!
GM, you really need this vehicle out ASAP as of 2 years ago. I was tired of waiting and bought myself a 2002 Camaro Z28 Feb 2008 but will really consider trading in my G6 for the Camaro hardtop in the Z28 or SS model. Hurr Hurry Hurry
I LOVE this car! I always wanted a Mustang but, not after seeing the Transformer movie! I cannot wait…
I have a 1969 Camaro and cannot wait until this
2010 comes out! Great looking car ! Can I order one now ?
Mr Lutz, I really like the new camaro. I own a 2006 Z06, a 2007 cobalt, a2008 malibu LTZ, & a 2007 silverado, extended cab Z71. And my son owns a 2008 Avalnche LTZ, so I am a Chevrolet supporter in the very truest form. My only request on the new Camaro, is put an LS7 in an SS model….and in a convertable model as well. Make them a limited edition series, maybe some stripes, or a bumblebee stripe. Thanks for all you do, Tim Bland.
I stumbled into the Camaro and this site shopping on Cars Direct. It’s gorgeous, and I’m a ready buyer, but please heed the Jan.6 & 7 and July 6,10,12 & 13 postings:
Power sunroof!
Power sunroof!
Power sunroof!
Without it, I too must pass.
With it — I’m in.
McKay 7/17/08
This car is a definite buy. I am loving the body style. I do realize that it is still in concept mode so the interior will not be exactly the same as when it starts being produced. However, the photos that I have seen thus far of the interior is not to my liking, nothing really special about the interior at all. You should change it up a little bit, put something in there that no other car has at the moment. Just make it something different because this is a hot car and it deserves a good looking interior. It would be interesting, I think, to test drive one of these in a hard-top convertible. Keep up the good work
Well, honestly, I think that the convertible is coming out pretty good. Even though I’m all about the coupe, I would actually consider buying the convertible instead of the coupe.
The Camaro coupe looks great. I can’t wait to see photos of the convertible. I’m just trying to decide between an SS or another Corvette. If the Camaro is a quality product it will be the way to go!
I too agree with McKay def need a sunroof or moonroof. Absolutely loving the car, and def is a must buy with a sunroof/moonroof.
Bob, please release some more info on the converible to us and your dealers, ie. color options and some idea of pricing. I got to see the new ‘vert in May 07 at the F-Body gathering in Atlanta and was sold then and there, so much so that I just sold my ‘04 MazdaSpeed Miata, which I dearly loved, and have banked the money to buy the vert. I am Bowtie to the bone and can’t wait to put this in my garage next to my ‘72 ElCamino. One caveat though, it must have a V-8.
I can’t wait to own my second Camero. My first one was a ‘68 which I let go of before I knew how popular they would be. The new Camero looks beautiful except for one thing – the sides with the dished in squares looks like a Mustang. Oh NO!!
Cool car, but still too boxey for a Camaro! Don’t get me wrong… I like Camaro’s my 1st new car was a 95 Quazar Blue Camaro. But my last 2 cars have been a 98 Formula and a 02 WS6 TransAm. All of these car had T-Tops, Please. please bring back our Birds and put T-Tops as option for both Camaro & The Firebird.
I love the design of this car and will be getting one for sure (SS model), but why no MIDNIGHT BLUE METALLIC? That imperial blue looks hideous!
Jerry said: “Please put a webcam on the assembly line so we can see our cars being built. Generate some excitement!”
Jerry,
I have a cousin who works in an assembly plant. If what he tells me is true, neither GM, Ford, nor Chrysler has anything to benefit from car buyers watching their cars being built.
Apparently building a car is too much like watching sausage being made, plus if you were to record your car as it is built, you would have a tool to use in a liability case against the carmaker when something goes wrong.
I had a 70 Camaro and Im going to buy a 2010 convertible….but…you blue color sux…give me a rich dark blue and Im a happy man…Ashton..I will be on your waiting list!!
wow, this thing looks just like the new dodge and mustang. Wouldnt be so obvious they copied them if those cars if the camaro would have come out sooner. THeyll stop making them again in 3 years
I love the tease, can’t wait for the reality. Will be getting one. Can’t wait to cruise PCH again with the top down. It belongs by the ocean. Pacific that is!
Why can’t we find a color design for the Camaro in an Alpine or Hunter Green Color? I also noticed that racing stripes are non-existant. Is there a RS package that includes consumer repuest?
You guys did it this time…
You’ve outdone yourselves with this Camaro in all aspects of the word.
This will get the attention of the Woodstock/Baby Boomer generation as well as anyone else who can appreciate the mystique of an automobile with Camaro’s heritage.
Build me a triple black convertible with all the toys, and I’m there!
This is one Bad Ass Car!!
This Car is phenomenal as expected. The problem is that it is about 4 or 5 years too late. GM has let F@$d brainwash everyone with the Mustangs and Rousch this or that. GM has better products but always seems to be late with the improvements and lets F@$d steal the limelight. This happened with the Truck side also. Those of us diehards Bowtie guys have waited a long time for this. This could easily be the best US production car on the market next to the Vette. Please get it right and get the next Concept out before F@$d does, I’m sick of hearing about that crappy mustang.Thank you for listening and Thanks for getting this to market.
Please make the camero convertible as fast as possible.
Awesome!! Way to go Ed and GM. I am so glad you decided to produce the Camaro despite the rumors it was going to get killed. It is a great American sports car. You have correctly designed it with just enough old school to bring back great memories yet greatly updated. I’m very excited to see these cars showing up at the dealers and will try to hold out for that convertible. I am so looking forward to drving one of those. Thanks for bringing this great icon back. Interior and exterior looks awesome. Get it to us quickly and THANKS!!
I have a 3 year lease up in March 2010 on my current convertible; I will either go to my life long ambition to own a Corvette, but I might go with a convertible Camaro – to get a back seat – but I will only go with a Camaro convertible if it is a hardtop convertible. I have a soft top now and while it is okay I definitely want my next car to be a hardtop convertible (Corvette with T-top is my plan).
Extraordinarily beautifully designed and elegant vehcile. GM has done its job. Probably one of the last remaining muscle cars for generations to come! futuristic design yet classical in its own right. The epitamy of what a muscle car should be – V-8 that is! Looks like the pony express is coming full speed ahead. watch out Fordies! I hope to be one of the first to own one! I’m sure like fine wine, this car will only get better with time!
I have always liked the Camaro Concept vehicle and it appears that the production coupe is on the way. I was going to order a 2010 Camaro Convertible but my C6 Corvette convertible fits the need just fine. The SS should be a killer combo as a convertible!
Why wasn’t the Camaro Convertible the first one. I would be one of the first people in line to purchase. Are you going to build a new Z28? If so add me to the list for that one as well. I have had one of your camaro’s fro every year they have been made.
First off I would like to say thank you for the re-birth Camaro. I love the design and I can’t wait to see mine rolled off of the trailer. Some don’t care about the interior, but I think it is the most authentic revision with the dream of touching the original design with a twist of new equipment. I love it. I have a 69 rs/ss conv. and I think the interior falls in line with it. I really like the body design, but it doesn’t have me sold. I would like to see a rs/ss version released. I would love to see the hide-aways and it’s own grill to seperate it from the other models. I would love to have a matching 69 and 10 Camaro parked in tandom in my garage. I really hope you put the rs/ss into production for those of us that would be interested. That would be a big selling point for myself. In all though, I really love the direction you are taking GM and I hope it will put a BIG push in the american work force. We all know we need something. Maybe this is it. Keep up the good work gentlemen and GM will take over the world again. Thanks
Dear GM ~ I have been patiently waiting for your Camaro. My grown children were skeptical when I told them you were relaunching this legend. My son-in-law even went to Bast Chevrolet in Wantagh , Long Island and they would not accept a deposit. Presently I drive a beautiful triple black Toyota Celica Convertible. I need the back seat. I will keep my present car until I purchase your Camaro.
I had my first Camaro new in 1970 in Copper ( metalflake ) I hope you remember your tag line at that time ” CLOSEST THING TO A VETTE YET ” I do wish the car was being assembled in the US. We could really use the economic boost.
I come from a time of auto enthusiasts in the Bronx. I have fond memories of my husband picking me up from high school in his black Chevelle SS with the L88 engnine and those amazing glass packs. My school used to shake and the nuns were always upset! Those were the glory days….
Love the Look of the Car from the outside. The interior needs some upgrades.
Chevy you need this car to come out and say WOW NOW THIS IS THE CAR That I want to drive!!!
The Inside should hava a mean dark muscle look to it. Not plastic crap that will get loose and fall off. There should be some chrome options for the different type of consumers.
Please take my advise and spend some more quality time on the inside of this Beast. Bring that Beauty Out!
WHY WHY WHY is this a soft top, this car needs a hard top, would have bought this car in a convertible but it looks gay. Come on!!!!
I have an 05 Mustang. Only complaint is the road noise (tire noise and i have top of the line Michelin tires). Remember that when you design this one. Beautiful Camaro – I’d get the 8.
I am a former owner of a 67,69,76,77,78, and 80 camaros. So I’m anxiously awaiting to order one. I orginally wanted a coupe, but disappointed with the B-pillar and may wait for the convertible. My 67 was a convertible SS/RS 396; white, black top and red interior. I sure hope a red interior is available. This was also sharp in my 78 and 80 Z-28s with black exterior.
It would also be a wise move for GM to introduce a double overhead cam V8 in the Camaro; much like the 350 intro in 67. My wife has V6 Altima that revs like none of my former Camaros; except probably the early 302 Z-28s.
I’m liking the new silver, need to see what interiors and stripes are available; stick shift naturally..
Any idea on the MSRP? Is it competitive with Mustangs?
Dear GM, I love the car and am a proud Camaro owner, but is it the correct product for $4.50 per gallon premium fuel? Due to this, I predict low sales volume after the initial purchasing rush and you’ll pull the plug… again. And ~3900 lb? All I have to say is holy crap…
-John
‘98 SS
I have never been so excited about a car since i bought my first car back in 1975. I love camaro’s &
I have owned two generations. Style & looks are on the money & my hats off to you for bringing
it back. I can’t wait to order the camaro when the green lite is given. By the way, my first new car
I bought back in 1975 was a camaro & i stll own it.
Thanks again, Hal
YA ITS NICE BUT REALLY RATHER HAVE T TOPS AND A PONTIAC EMBLEM ON IT AND WHILE YOUR AT IT RENAME IT A TRANS AM, PRICE IT RIGHT AND IT WILL SELL PUT IT MUCH OVER 25 FOR THE LS AND YUR A IDIOT. NO MORE THEN 35 FOR THE SS AND YOU WILL BE IN GOOD SHAPE. STILL RATHER HAVE A TRANS AM
This car looks amazing. I cant wait for this to come out next year. Does anyone know yet what the price is going to look like?
Bring it!!!!!!!!!!!
I am just about finished with a frame off resto on a 1967 camaro and i cant wait to add this one to it. Mine is the bolero red and it looks like the red for the 2010 model will be a close match. Awsome job guys, You hit one out of the park.
Thanks
Eric Paul
I have been wanting to have my own Camaro since I was a teenager 20 years ago. I can’t wait until the summer of 2010 to get one! Now if I could just decide on a color. They all look good!
I heard that GM is not going to produce a Z28 model from other sites but there has been no formal word from GM. Will there be a Z28 edition? Chrysler and Ford have made high-end editions of their retro cars already and for all of us who have patiently waited for years for the Camaro, I think GM would be left behind again if they don’t produce one also. You have already lost a lot of sales by being the last Detroit car manufacturer to launch their retro sports car (could have/should have been the first with the GTO-ouch) so stop the bleeding and make a Z28 edition.
The camaro looks great. I just hope GM doesn’t try to gouge Canadians the way Chrysler did with their challenger, charging $10,000 more in Canada than in the US, for a car made in Canada. With the dollar basically at par, and the car made in Oshawa (just outside Toronto) prices should be the same. Also, why is it more expensive to ship a car to Toronto than to California? GM Corporate should not allow dealer pricing above list (see Infinity). If the dealer cheated the purchaser on the purchase price, you know he’ll cheat you on service and other aftermarket work. Not exactly the image GM should be striving for.
I am dieing for this Camaro. I’ve always loved 1970-73. This one has changed my mind, still working on getting one. I like the look inside but, please don’t make it so plasticy. I am for sure getting the jewel red it’s perfect for a woman who is finally getting the toy of the house. I saw one on a truck trailer 7/23/08 in Portland Or in the dark orange. LOVIN IT : )
Beautiful convertible! Please make a Midnight Blue Metallic.
Good job! Ive owned several camaros in the past. One was a 69 convertible another a 78 Z-28, a 68 coupe etc.. Looks to me like it would be great to have a 2010 convertible SS pace car at Indy. Uh also for a hot rodder like myself a 2010 no nonsence Z-28 in true Z-28 fashion would be great, you know, all the go fast stuff without haveing to have all the bells and whistles. Also Im impressed with the V-6 with 300 HP. Great for todays public and gas prices it should sell like hot cakes and make a mustang V-6 look slow. But dont forget the win on sunday sell on monday. The challenger drag package a special stock / super stock car, and all of the mustangs with blowers and such. Selling all of the V-6 cars should allow for a few real winners to be built dont you think? Again Good job keep it up. Mike
I so can not wait for this car to become available to order, the convertible one!!! I’ve been waiting since 1998 to own one!!! <3 my CHEVY’s!!!
Put me down for a Black Convertible.
oh Kurt, I know that they’re making a SS model, but not sure if its gonna be the Z28, I do know that back in the day that if it was an SS it was a Z28…never know now though with the way things are “worded”. I hope it is though!!
OK when will chevy team release information about, a hardtop convertible. still waiting!!. I still thank the team people for releasing the rag top picture with the top up meaning that in fact it was possible,
If the camaro is supposed to be a super futuristic car why dose it turn back into a crapy ragtop camaro?
I am loving the new Camaro and have been waiting for it since the first photos came out. I agree a little bit on the interior. They could do a better job than that but it still looks good. Rumor has it that it is going to cost as much as a Vette. If so, I guess I’ll never have one. If I had that kind of money I would probably get a vette instead.
Where is the top boot for the convertible? Is there one? It appears from the photo of the black convertible that the folded top just goes down and there’s nothing to cover the mechanicals . . . hopefully not(!). It looks unfinished and sloppy if the photo shows the final production version of the convertible WITHOUT anything covering the retracted top!!!
What a car. We are anxious for the debut. My father has a 68 Camaro SS and so I would love to own a new one.
I think it looks like the challenger from the side. looks wise I still like the challenger a little better. Only thing I do not like is the center consol. the radio just looks strange.
Still will get the convertable camaro. hope you do make the Hi performance one with ZR1 motor
Jose, there will be no hardtop convertible. I asked one of the designers lat year and in order to keep costs and weight down plus keep a decent trunk space, they are sticking with a soft top and I believe it will be manual again to save on costs, weight and space. I was looking forward to a hard top also (that’s why I asked) but the reasoning behind sticking to a soft top makes sense. Plus with the advanes in materials, the new soft tops are nice looking and durable. I liked my soft top in my 2000 Vette. Of course I had the top down most of the time I drove it.
Heather, the Z28 was revived as an option package in 1977 after GM killed it in 1975 (another great move, i.e. 1996 Impala) I had a 1980 air-inducted Z28 for my college car which was not the greatest choice living in Michigan. The SS package ran from 1967-1973 when it was replace by the “Type-LT” So, I hope they will make a Z28. I “heard” that a 550HP limited edition Z28 was in the works for 2011 but GM is killing projects faster then ever so I’m not sure if it will become a reality.
Looks good except the convertible needs to be a hardtop. A soft-top would send me looking elsewhere. With all the completion building hardtop convertibles why would you build anything other than a hardtop convertible? People love how cool it is when you retract a hardtop. GM, please don’t disappoint.
Please build the convertible quickly…I want one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I absolutely love this car, I own a 2001 Z-28 and a 1987 IROC so this 2010 SS will be ordered as soon as you guys start taking orders. Thank goodness for some enthusiasts at the corporate level. Good Job!
Love the car…. Can’t wait to get one. I saw the note about not coming out with a hard top convertible. I have to say I’m very disappointed. That is defiantly something I would buy in a heart beat. I wouldn’t care about the price. Please reason with them about doing it.
Thanks
Thank you kurt for the feedback, I understand that cost, weight, and space are important, however when I saw bumblebee transform I thought to my self good God that is awesome, I’m sure that I’m not the only one that thinks, that seeing a hard top convertible lower and raise the top is thing of beauty, not to mention the pride of owning such a car like a camaro. I honestly think that if GM would build 1,000-20,000 limited hard top convertibles they would sell like hot pancakes, yes even if they where high priced, heavy, and had no trunk room.
Best looking revisited muscle car released yet…! Spec’s looking good too…, GM rocks!
Over a decade ago I bought a New Saturn Sports Coupe for my wife the month we married, now I know what she is getting for our Anniversary next year…, taking a cruise no way, cruising in this monster of a babe, oh yeah. GM let me know how much the loaded V6 manual 6 speed is going to set me back, cause I’m serious. I look forward to the test drive & our February Anniversary!!!
P.S. Who won Bumble Bee or is the contest award still to come?
Absolutely love it. Knew when I saw the retro Mustang concept car I’d buy one. And I did in its first year.
Now I want this Camarao. But I’ve got to be honest, I seriously wish the converible was a hard top. I think the soft top, same with my Mustang, completely loses the hot, hard lines of of a retro muscle car!
I can’t stand the idea of going to a coupe after my last couple cars have been convertibles, but I love the body. Hard decision!
“Absolutely love it. Knew when I saw the retro Mustang concept car I’d buy one.”
Dad gum it. Too bad there is no one around to build a retro Javelin.
Release it already.
LOVE the new Camaro! FINALLY, a sexy American icon has been reborn with all the splendor that it rightfully deserves. I’d like the personally shake the hand of the person that designed this car…the curves, the lights, the vents, even the new modern spin on the original interior…it’s all gorgeous. I’ve had a profound appreciation for the Camaro long before I even had my driver’s license. Three Camaros later, I’ve been QUITE anxious for the resurrection of this car. Let’s face it, it’s road goddesses such as this that make driving worthwhile. Who cares about getting from point A to point B?! It’s the experience in between that matters and the new Camaro is definitely going to make those moments memorable. All I have to say is WELCOME BACK! We’ve been waiting…
And to the GM Marketing Team, you had better give this car the marketing genius that it deserves. There’s a lot of Americans, such as myself, that have been longing for a REAL car again…not the Japanese garbage that currently clutters the road ways. Camaro (and Corvette) once owned the road and could easily rule again – if you market it properly.
Congratulations to GM, looks like you’ve got a hit, and to all you Camaro lovers, I’m glad to see your
car return…..it should never have left the American car scene. American cars, meaning ONLY, GM,
Ford & Chrysler are my passion, and in all honesty, I’m a Mustang lover. Born and raised in Dearborn, wife’s a Ford retiree. Unfortunately due to age and health concerns I can no longer own or participate in the “Car culture”. While being a Mustang lover, I’ve always appreciated the great GM and Hemi powered cars and those that own, take care of and love their cars, and are not afraid to
get them out and let people appreciate them. There is nothing like “Detroit Iron” and the sound of
“Detroit Iron” as well. I’m happy that the Charger/Challenger and the Camaro are back and I wish
them a long, long run. We’ll always debate GM, Ford, Chrysler, but that’s what makes it so much fun.
Rock on Detroit Iron…..we rule !!!!!
Looks great, waiting impatiently for mine to arrive.
I’ve looked at the pictures and reviewed the specs on the 2009 Camaro….looks fantastic…I haven’t bought an American Vehicle in awhile but I will buy this car if it measures up to the expectations.
Please make sure you finish the job of making the Camaro fun to drive, comfortable, and fuel efficient for its performance capabilities.
I see pictures of this car and I get goose bumps all over and a huge grin on my face, I can not wait to see and drive this thing!!!
Why is it taking so long to get a Camaro out? We keep getting concept after concept car. The design looks “OK” but the side view looks too wide at the front. It takes on too much of the look that the mustang and the charger have. The front grill clean and simple in design, looks like it is missing something??? Also is there going to be a Z28 or just the SS? What are they planing for these to set them apart from the rest?
I Hope we can get a RS modle or a RS/SS modle. I just saw the Chalenger today but I am holding out for a Rag top Camaro. I dont think Dodge is going to give us a rag top and that is what I really want. I am on my second mustang right now but would love to come back to Chevy if you can get it right.
PLEASE SEND ME ONE TO TEST DRIVE. I am crazy in love with the new camero and i have decided that i will take on another job and even trade in the civic for my dream car. I am a speed demon and love to fly by the guys on my street bike….. i would love nothing more than to fly by the boys in a flashy 2010 SS Camero!!! I think it’s perfect!!! Save me a candy apple red with two black strips and a SS ONLY!!
I love this car!! It reminds me of a snake.
both coupe and convertible are hot, and i can’t wait to reserve my own. come on chevrolet, stop dragging great ideas out so long till the masses buy “something else” and camaro does’nt get it’s just due. i am a true gm fan and have never owned anything else for the last 32 years of my driving life. bring it on.
Stunning! I hope you will lunch both models (Coupe/Convertible) in Germany as well on the same price level as in the USA. Then it for sure will be a great success in Europe as well.
The body on the car looks a lot different somehow from the concept Camaro. I really love that concept car and have been wanting one. The model on Chevrolet’s site for the production car looks so much weaker. Buying this car would make my 6th Camaro. I have one now. I really hope the new one don’t roll out this way.
Enough of the teasing. Bring this Baby to the market …………………..
Where do we place an order?
Mine will be a convertible, probably red. Until then my red 95 Cavalier LS will be my sunshine car !
me and wife have waited our entire lives to own a new camaro, we are so excited…..please hurry…this will save GM
Amazing! I can’t wait to put down that deposit and get the order in. Bought my HHR last year in preparation for this and take the bus to work to keep it “in the wrapper” until time to trade WAY UP. Will be a great compliment to our ‘87 Z-28 and definitely make the kids jealous.
Thanks for resurrecting a legend and making these “Golden Oldies” feel like 16 year olds again.
Bad-ass and Sexy all in one
Love the new camaro, had a 86, 90, 96, Z28s, just sold my 2004 Z06. Very Sad….
Now I need a convertiable, Red Jewel Tint Coat /with White Leather.
Already talk to my locale Chey. Dealer, can’t wait for the first look in his show room.
Mr. T
I’m sure I’m not alone here… but what are the chances the convertible will be a hard-top convertible (like the BWV 325 Conv), rather than a soft-top? I think this will ensure the integrity of the design when translated into a convertible. I think it would be a major selling point. What does everyone else think?
My name will appear on the title of one of those convertibles when they come out. I’ll trade my fully restored ‘93 300zx convertible w/ only 65k on it for the new convertible camaro!
I like the exterior extremely well except for the grill. Looks very cheap imo. I owned a ‘68 SS Camaro in my younger days and loved driving it. I’m sure the new one will be just as exciting to drive as well.
I sell Chevrolet and I am proud of Chevrolet to bring back the Camaro . What you have done is truly amazing . I hope someday I can own one . I have owned Chevrolet’s all my life and this car is the best yet . I love corvette I have sold the C6 Vette and the New Z06 which I love also . But this car takes me back to my 69 Camaro SS 396 375 HP I owned in high school . Thank you Chevrolet may you keep the spirit alive
I love the Camaro and i can’t wait until it comes out!! I just wish they would make T-Tops in one body style! That would be sick! How much is the SS going to be???
I think the new camaro is gorgious and I am looking forward to when it comes out so I can go and see about getting one. I love what GM has done with it and they have out did there selves again but I am very happy with what they are doing. So just keep up the good work and thankyou for the new camaro you are coming out with.
Awesome looking car. It will be worth waiting for. I had a 69 convertible and 96 Z28 SS convertible. I can,t wait to order a new convertible. I hope you are offering some after market chrome wheels for this striking vehicle. I had painted SS wheels on my 96 and hated them. I put a complete set of SS chrome wheels on it and wow. Black on black with chrome is unbeatable. Sales of this car will beat all expectations. Just, please put the best quality you can into this vehicle. I hope the exhaust will sound as nice if not better than the mustang, especially at idle speed. Harley has its own distinct sound. Mustangs have their own sound. The camaro needs its own sound.
I have loved and wanted a Camaro since I was young but, i was never able to afford one. Now that my son is out of college. The time is mine! I’ve read some of the letters. everyone has thier own opinions. the car looks great inside and out. Thanks for bringing the Camaro back.
I was considering a new ‘08-’09 vette to replace my ‘04 vette with but I may hold off and test drive the convertible SS first. I had an ‘87 Z28 in high school and later a ‘95 at the end of the college years. When it came time to get something new the Camaro price tag was up near a Corvette’s but didn’t have near the handling and perfomance ability so the ‘vette was a no brainer. If this is as good as it sounds I’ll be rolling in one next year.
Has anyone notice how similar the Volt looks to the new Camaro?
Awesome!!! Now that’s a CAMARO!! Can’t wait to get one!!!
Please make the convertible a hard top style, SS and I am buying one! I can only dream since it’s a rag top in the images….
We nice ride I bet. I was 13 when mom and Dad bought a brand spanking new 1969 350 350 turbo
$3,200 right off the show room floor here in St Louis @ Weber Chevy.. I wish I still had the fine 1969 Blue with black vin top. I am sure she is some where still on the rode. Maybe someday we will see the Nova Chevy II come back also.
Brand Team: 4 words…Fantastic and about time!
I can only hope that production follows concept closely. I saw the convertible at Barrett-Jackson on display. I could have sold a thousand units right there.
One special note; I hope that there will be a Z-28 option available. In any case, I’ll be on line at the dealer for my convertible in concept orange with graphite stripes. Is it too late to offer the LS-9 option?
Thanks for reading this,
Bob Bordelon

This Camaro is a bit disappointing….It looks too mch “FAT” from the 69 model, which it was supposedly modeled from? The inside dash.,…well, no comment here!
If GM does survive…..and I hope so…as I have a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP…when and how long will the plug be pulled on any “non energy efficient” Camaro? I am just hoping my extended GM ( and GM itself….) warranty holds up for the next 60 os/ 100 k miles…….!
I doubt you’ll submit my comment for the Camaro….since you seem to censure…screen…any “negative” comments?! Are you a “shill” for GM? Hope so, since the whole corporation is going down, down,….DOWN!!! Sell your GM stock now….. The Camaro may live one year at most….it will become a putrid VOLT in the long run.
Wow, the regular Camaro looks cool, but I wish it had a sunroof. As for the convertible version, it looks kinda lame. For some reason it looks like an old Lincoln now, and I was really dissapointed to see that yet another automaker refuses to satiate my need for a retractable hard top. Seriously, what is wrong with these people? They make an awesome looking car, then they want to throw a blanket on it. Yuck.
About time GM brought the f-body back. Was close to buy a Challenger & this made me change my mind. I need a new Camaro, a shame that it is a Firebird/Trans AM though coming out along with its close cousin.
I meant it is not coming out. OOOPS!
Photo looks like the Fathom Green but that color is not on the pallette. I have to echo: “will keep my comments to the interior, since that seems to be the most controversial. Like the exterior, the design “idea” was adapted to fit the G8 platform instead of the Corvette which the concept was built from. “Looks good except the convertible needs to be a hardtop. A soft-top would send me looking elsewhere. With all the completion building hardtop convertibles why would you build anything other than a hardtop convertible? People love how cool it is when you retract a hardtop. GM, please don’t disappoint. Love the new camaro, had a 86, 90, 96, Z28s, just sold my 2004 Z06. Very Sad….
Now I need a convertiable, Red Jewel Tint Coat /with White Leather.
Already talk to my locale Chey. Dealer, can’t wait for the first look in his show room.”

“Maybe someday we will see the Nova Chevy II come back also.”
Ed
I love it. I was hoping I wasn’t the only one who thought that. With the platform sharing and all, I don’t see why they cant. Just make the car about 400 lbs less than the camaro, and it would be just right. Now if olds wasnt gone, we could bring back the NOVA code cars. (Nova, Omega, Ventura, Apollo).
I am anxciously awaiting the return of the Camaro. My wife and I used to have one but had to sell it when I was deployed overseas. When we got back and settled in we wanted to buy another but did not because they were made in Canada. I am looking forward to a getting one as a convertible fun car. I just hope they will be made in the US, are big enough for us middle age types, and have some room for kids in the back. And of course I hope they have HP enough to put Mustang GTs in their place. Chrome would be nice also….
This car brings back the Camaro legend with a vengence! Great style that says take me for a ride…watch out Ford and Dodge, the muscle car war is on again.
When will the re-birth of the Trans-Am appear? We can always hope for a new Bandit edition!
Great job GM, let the games begin.
My first car was a 86 camaro, since then i have had 2. I love camaro’s and corvettes. This new one looks to be the sexiest one designed yet. The only hang up is the soft top convertible. If GM can make the Pontiac G6 in a hard top surely the engineers can come up with a way to make this car a hardtop convertible. I currently own a tahoe and a MBZ SL500 and would give them both up in a heart beat if this camaro comes out with a hardtop for the convertible model. Hurry up, Please!!
I am a 60 year old male, have been a chevy man all my life. You should never have stopped the camaro in the first place. It has hurt your sales. Put a motor in the new ones and you will sell the heck lut of them, might buy one for my daughter. My first car was a brand new, right off the show room floor, 1965 SS Impala, 396, now that was a car and I was only 16
The first time I saw the pics of the new Camaro, I was sure that someone had mislabeled it. The grill is definitely modeled after the 69, but almost resembles Ford styling. Looks cheap. I’m anxious to see it in person.
“You should never have stopped the camaro in the first place.”
“The grill is definitely modeled after the 69, but almost resembles Ford styling.”
Chevrolet and GM should just admit that the first Camaro in the 1967 was a tardy response to the success of the Mustang in the “pony car” wars, and that this edition will only be more of the same.
I really liked the pics of the new camaro, brings back memories of 65’s, but better. Your design engineers need to hustle and get these cars out quicker, what motor is inside, what is the gas mileage??? awesome looking. Alex!
I have had a 69 and an 85 Camero. This new convertibile is on the buy list when it is available. Can’t wait!!!!!! Being able to do what I want now (2nd childhood) is great!
Great Job!
The exterior looks beautiful! I want a convertible!
You nailed it! I be back buying GM products. Great job to all.
I would strongly encourage all who have not had the opportunity to see one of these up close and personal, to reserve the harsh criticism and commentary. You will not be dissapointed when you see the car in person. For those GM detractors, I offer direction to mazdamiata.com. Perhaps you will find a car more suitable to your (lack of) character. After all, this column is for muscle CAR enthusiasts, not muscle mouth enthusiasts. Enough said.
I look at it and feel like I am a kid again at 18 wanting to hop in and cruise the town and show it off. I am sure that I will have to see it in person to fully appreciate its’ beauty. I can not wait to have one sittingin my driveway for me to wash and shine the tires and just LOOK at it. I could go on and on foreve. Enough said, you get the point.
Getting one the minute I find one
I am in the market for a hot new ride after 10 yrs in a boring sedan. I will definitely be test driving this car. Love the sexy exterior styling and color choices. Perhaps a sweet convertible is in my future. A hard top would be fantastic but only if it doesn’t suck up all the trunk space.
Gentlemen,
As a long time admirer of the Camaro line and owner of three through my life time, I can only advise you not to skimp on quality finishes and high tech items. Customers will pay for a good looking and well made car. Also you have to surpass the Pony. Keep in mind that a convertible must be with a RETRACTABLE top or you will lose the race.
Make Americans proud.
Love the coming camaro.
How much is it going to be???
Overall, the new design is great! Aggressive and smooth. Like many other potential buyers, I hope the actual production interior is much different than the current photos! This is what you see and use the most when you’re driving and it looks horrible and would be a deal killer if it goes to production like this. Also, on the exterior, the convertible top looks great! However, I don’t know how that ugly rearend and tail lights made it through to the final design? The photoshop pic of the RS where there were two wider tail lights instead of the 4 looked better. The outer left and right edges from the rear view looks like a canoe or something? It just needs to mesh into the rear quarters better with larger tail lights. Hopefully they’ll fix it on a mid-run re-design. Lastly, when stopping for gas, who has their passenger pump the fuel? Why anybody would design the fuel door on the passenger side is beyond me! It should be on the drivers side or cleverly masked in the rear fascia to make the side quarter smooth and without disruption!
I love the new Camaro! I would like to wait for the convertible, but what are the chances of a T-Top coupe? I would even settle for a coupe with VERY LARGE sunroof option. While a retractable hardtop is nice, I do not think it is worth the added cost, weight, and complexity. Thanks Chevrolet, and GM for bringing back the Camaro!!!
Today I was at the GM Oshawa plant in Canada and right before my eyes I saw the new Camero convertable rolling around the compound.
What a Car !
When can I get my hands on one of those beauties.
You guys have done a great job on this car!
Way to go. it looks fantastic and i bet it drivers the way it looks ( like a bad ass)
Jim D
Camaro looks great peice of Australian and American design. The VE Commodore chasis base is awesome news in Australia. I love and own a 2005 delivered Holden VZ Monaro CV8 A sensation in Australian Motoring History and the New Camaro takes to the next level of time/ era This New Camaro takes semi-retro styling to a whole different thing.
Looks great, Iv been wanting to get another camaro sence the tranny went out on my 83 Camaro in 2000. Im not getting another used one though.
Wow! Order me a convertible in Inferno Orange with the black stripes,
LS3 and 6 Speed manual, short throw shifter too, please. Oh What the heck add the tuned air intake and cat-back exhaust system.
I have just read in the latest issue of “Automobile” magazine that the 2010 Camaro V-8 engine WILL require Premium fuel. I have a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP, with the 303 HP engine, that states in the owner’s manual…for best performance, premium fuel is SUGGESTED….but NOT REQUIRED. While I am still “breaking in my GXP”…I have not really tested the difference in octane. Does anyone here know if the new Camaro V8 will actually require Premium Fuel ONLY….which in my area, Virginia…averages about 30 cents higher than standard fuel. But of course, if we are looking a a car that averages 16-17 MPG, as opposed to the 26 MPG that the new Camaro V6 will average…does it matter that much?!!
hay i just have to say it is about time the camero comes back it is the best car or vehicle that gm make all cars .and make the convertable it looks great i would buy it. i love the car and the coupe they are based off the 69′ camero witch happens to be my favorite car in the hole world. i want my 09/10 camero red with black racing stripes!! i cant wait!
I sure hope the Camaro is not a cut corners and skimp the details car. GM still has too many of these on the market and you can no longer afford to play the games of the past. You continually pitch the marketing hype, promise everything is changing for the better, and then don’t deliver on the promise. And I blame this on the GM beancounters and also the engineers and designers that don’t have the backbone to stand up and demand the best.
GM needs to be better than the competition in every aspect. Buyers of sports cars are now far and few between and you will need to compete for every sale. Sure there will be the early buyers, but in order for this car to have any staying power, the GM beancounters better have been directed exactly what to buy, instead of making any of those decisions for themselves. Otherwise the Camaro will be second best – which for the GM beancounters is plenty good enough. Great performance does not come cheap, but everybody knows that buying cheap is how the GM beancounters are judged.
Is “good enough” all of what we should expect from GM anymore? Or will the Camaro truly be a best in class car? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
IT LOOKS STUNNING BUT GM SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON TOP OF THEIR GAME AND INTRODUCED IT TO THE PUBLIC LIKE DODGE CHALLENGER HAS DONE. OTHER THAN THAT IT LOOKS GREAT.
That is the most beautiful piece or machinery I have ever sceen in my life!!!!!!!! I have been a camaro enthusiest for as long as I can remember. When they stopped production I was so depressed. I have to admit, this was the what the camaro was ment to look like. Just like the 69′, mean and intimidating. I would estaticly love to own either the coup or the convertible. Welcome back Camaro you were missed, it’s has been a long wait but the wait was well worth it. Now if we can just get the gas prices back to 1.50/gallon, ok thats asking a bit much I admit but it would be nice.
I think GM should build the hype even more….some superbowl commercials…….retro new & old together………make some special order options that are secret…..that rumors leak out about……… ……I have 2 68 convertibles, and like what i’ve seen so far…………………………………I think people would still prefer a front wheel drive version for a daily drivers……….I’m glad to hear GM did not make the Camaro narrow in withdth like the new mustangs…thats the biggest knock I hear people complain about.
Does GM ever raffle off chances for test crash vehicles?
I would love to get some updated interior Items……..Thanks GM……
Awww, I am SO disappointed! I have my original 94 Z28. I was so hopeful after seeing the concept car and have kept the old girl running with 200,000 miles until the new one came out. But this is not the car I will buy. The nose is cut off… it looks so much like the Mustang, I cant even look at it. I hope this isnt set in stone. I’ve already started buying chrome restoration parts, in 6 years my Z will be a classic and I think I’ll keep her.
love the camaro i really wish i can own one in my lifetime
I have never owned a camaro before. I will be buying your Camaro convertible since this new prototype has more promise than others in the current market. The only complaint I have is that the interior dash board alienates new customers like me. The dash board is too retro and would be a deal breaker if it persists in the local showroom.
And how are you going to fit a Navigation system/CD/Radio system in the middle console and what kind of bass/surround sound is the convertible going to have?
I am holding off a Sky Redline purchase until your convertible comes out.
Great looking designs on the coupe and convertible. Are there any talks of a hardtop convertible or a sunroof or better yet, T-tops for those without garages?
I am excited about the new Camaro coming out especially for the convertible. I am anticipating on getting one. Can you do something about the tail lights, since it’s a retro can you bring the 69 lights.
I can’t even put into words the excitement I feel just talking about the new Camaro, so I have no doubt about the thrill it will be to drive one. I grew up watching a 69 on the drag strip in Memphis and it has always been a dream of mine to own one. However when I heard Chevy was coming out with the new Camaro, my investigation begin. I know exactly what I want. Convertible, Inferno Orange with black strips, fully loaded everything. Do you remember the “80’s” Big Hair otherwise known as Camaro Hair, well I’ve been working hard to grow that hair for this car. Per my loving husband and I quote ” Babe, you grow the Camaro Hair again and I’ll get you the car to go with it.” I’m still growing and waiting, but please hurry. Any way to move the convertible up to an ealier release? I’ll be happy to be a test driver for you!
Kandy
Only 3 words to say….
I WANT THAT!
AN AWESOME CAR……..I HAVE BEEN EAGERLY AWAITING THE CONVERTIBLE………..MATTER OF FACT ITS SO HOT I DON’T KNOW HOW YOU WILL KEEP IT FROM MELTING
AWESOME – I want one.
The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro looks Beautiful. My first car was an 91 Camaro RS, (which i am still driving) and I am hoping to get this one, if everybody else who commented dont buy them all out first…lol…but I was looking at the website site and saw the photo to the convertible. And again it looks great, I almost started dancing when I since it. I am guessing it should be available as a SS. But the only thing in my opinion, well what i would like on the convertible is a hard top convertible. I been looking for a convertible that can display power and an artistic design, not to mention in the hot climate it would be good to profile a little bit without burn up or force to drive around with the window up and AC on in my 91 camaro. I still going get one either way, but it be nice to have an hard top convertible for add security.
You have got to be kidding! With all of the current technology available, you are using a folding rag top instead of a retractable hard top technology? I was waiting for the 2010 convertible to come out until I saw the rag top. You have got to be kidding! So much of the essential “look” of the car is lost.
Too bad.
Well im just going wait for a convertible its going to be my first purchsae fo a new car , i have been a GM fan forever owned a 68 chevelle convertible i know ill never see the day of a new chevelle prodution but assure you that ill will buy a legend therefore please make sure that u make convertible in the RS SS also i like the interior just because i drove a classic for years like the retro dash
thx
Sweet car , I would hope the Corvette 427 motor would be offered as an Option ala the COPO cars of the 60’s
I want that camero so bad! I’d be rollin’ then!
I own a 68 SS Convert 396 and a 69 Z/28…both are stock and the Z walks all over my BB. Do this right and you have loyal Chevy owners back. If you go for limited production volume, over equitable pricing you might never recover fully. I’m dyed in the wool GM but Camaro will tell me if I stay that way or not. Considering the Challanger but I’ll wait on the Camaro. HP wars are back I sure hope you compete! Can’t wait to see them in showrooms.
Being the owner of a 68 Camaro for the last 21 years(first car) I wish on the RS it would have hideaway head lights. Also black out the tailight panel on the SS model like they did on the 60’s models. I would also like for the camaro fender badging to be script. The front fenders it would be nice to have cubic inch (NOT LITERS) emblems.
I echo the comments the shifter ugly, have hurst build one for you.
I also hope they do a white parchment color interior for convertibles, no color is more confortable.
Great car, but for retro not enough for me to buy one
I refuse to buy a new car until the release of the 2010 Camaro Convertible. I would love to see it with a power retractable hardtop, or even a ragtop but not manual. Either way its a strong possiblity that I will buy one anyway, just for nostalgia. I’ve always been a GM fan. On my second Suburban and got in excesss of 200K miles on my 88′ S10 Blazer before donating it to charity. Look forward to the convertible cause I will have no car payments as of May 2010!
Ed:
The convertible is looking great and I can’t wait for the release. I am also glad the interior will not be run of the mill and will be uniquely Camaro although I would prefer a bit less flash – maybe that will come as the interior “matures”. In any case, that’s a great comeback kid you have there, and let’s get them rolling off the assembly line!
I love the new Camoro convertible. This IS my next car. I can’t wait! Just curious, will there be a hard top convertible?
This car takes my breath everytime I set eyes on it, kind of like seeing the hottest girl on the street that you know you have no chance of getting. I have already made it a set goal to be able to purchase this Camaro as soon as possible. The way it is designed gives it a sleek, yet classy look, and you can’t beat the American-made muscle atmosphere it puts off. For the most part, American has nothing again foreign-made racing cars. But with the new independent suppension on all four wheels, this will beat anything on the road especially on cornering. Can’t wait to own the SS Camaro!
Unfortunately, I will not get the chance to see the new Camaro this summer, due to a deployment to Afghanistan. But I do not need to see the Camaro in person to know that it will be the car that I buy, will all the pennies I save while I am over here, as soon as I get home. I am just hoping that they have an SS convertable model available when the time comes. An american classic, that’s perfect for THIS american soldier. Thanks guys for making your dream a reality. It’s now time for me to do the same and own one of yours.
I can’t wait for the SS convertible to come out because that is the one I will be purchasing.
It is a beautiful car.
I have waited a long time for this car to come back. But I have only one question, Can a man my size fit in ths car at 6′6 , and about 270 Lbs? Please tell me it will be a perfect fit.
Great looking car way to long a wait. Needs wider rear tires. If GM messes this up and does’nt build a Z28 with competing hp and handling as the GT500 stang. They will have missed many more sales than one would think. Customers buy this type of car on emotion. They justify and rationalize
a purchase like this based on the feelings the car brings out in them on the showroom floor even when it does’nt meet there exact needs they will still make this type of puchase. I have seen it a thousand times been in the biz 15 years it happens every day.
I am 47′ owned a 67′. I don’t need a car like this but if GM builds a Z28 soft top or a folding hard top with 450-500 hp I will buy and drive on the weekends. This new design just brings out the passion for a well designed car long awaited from any of the big three. The mustang just does’nt do it like this one does. Great job GM
As usual GM is betting all on the look, quality, toughness, and reliability will be way out, nothing beats a Japanese car.
They are saying early 2009 as model 2010, but is GM still going to be alive, I really doubt, when the 3 month losses is almost the same as the capital value, you can really see that GM won’t survive, probably in early 2009 they’ll just be making past history, it’s sad, but GM is probably the worst in quality in the domestic cars. At the selling price of the Camara I can get a small BMW, a 350Z, or a Solara.
Don’t expect to see me in a GM car in the near future, go ahead Chrysler (for the domestic) and Honda (for the imports), those companies have learned that a car buyer is not only looking for look, but he seeks for quality and reliability, that’s why Toyota will be 2008 largest car manufacturer in the world. In 1988 I started a career in sales at a GM dealer, back then we were talking of almost 50% of the market share, now GM will be closer to 20% in 2008 and still dropping, in 2009 I really do think that it will be the last production tear for GM cars, either Q4 of 2009 or early Q1 of 2009 GM will have no other choice that to file bankrupcy.
Back in 2002 they lost the title that they were holding for past 45 years as the largest company by the gross sales, and the largest stock capitalisation, now they are at the 6th place for gross sales price, and the stock capitalisation is probably very low in the top 10 000 companies, with a 15G$ capitalisation, you are very far from Exxon, Walmart, Google, Microsoft, Apple, and many many more, sorry to stop your fun, but if you still work at GM you better start now searching a job.
In the past years, how many plants were shutdown by GM and Ford? a conservative guess, each time they shutdown a plant, the import car manufacturer announces the building of 2 new plants, look carefully how many plants Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Hyundai have actually under construction or recently opened… abd how many plants were expended by far more than 100%, the exact number is 2.3 new plants for the imports, for one closure of the american manufacturers (excluding Chrysler). Who would be stupid enough to buy back GM? the liabilities overcome the assets by over 2 to 1 ratio, so current stock capitalisation is 15G$ and reliabilities are over 30G$, that’s just for the unsecured liabilities, because GM has stretch to the limit the mortgages on everything they own. Noone will be interested to buy GM and the bankrupcy will probably show some hidden aspects of the real numbers.
You’ll see many collectors cars available at the bankrupcy auction, cars that should be kept off road, because you won’t be able to find parts for repairs.
I once was a GM unconditionnal buyer, my last experience was a 2003 Chevy Avalanche, what a nightmare. I traded it for a Dodge Grand Caravan (gas prices made me understand the usage of a vehicule) and I also had a 1998 Chevy Camaro convertible, I did traded it for a 350Z convertible. what a difference, no loose parts, no high maintenancecost at 25K miles, made 50K miles on the 350Z i set of brake pads, oil changes, and that’s it. I don’t have any funny noises, I never had a warranty claim, and car is in top shape, do 50K miles on a GM car you’ll expect to see at least 5 trips for warranty repairs, many maintenance like brake pads, shocks, and more, and expect to hear many noises from everywhere in the car.
I had the chance to visit a Toyota and an Honda plant, and do you know what they do after car is fully built? the attach the 4 wheels to robot arms, lift the car flip it over and shake it for 3 minutes very hard, and if 1 little piece falls down, they crunch the car and build a new one, if GM would do that to the cars they build, they would never have any car in a showroom. Why import manufacturers can build quality and reliable cars and GM can’t? easy GM thinks like in the 50’s and the 60’s they want a look, and most important they want you back to buy a new car in 2 or 3 years. Import manufacturers are expecting you in a few years, but they know that if you’re satisfied you’ll buy back one of their product, and you’ll talk to your friends.
In 1974 when Honda introduces the Civic on the market, the big 3, were laughing because they were saying who would buy a Civic. Look carefully, the Civic is still on the market, and they are selling much more Civic that Aveo and Cobalt combined. In fact there are only 2 domestic cars that still exist with non-stop production since 1974, the Corvette and the Mustang.
Camaro nice looking, but STAY AWAY
I have always been a mustang fan…..until the first look at the new camaro. I will forever say that GM has changed the look and feel of the sports car.
pic’s look great but it doesn’t look that good till it’s in my garage!!! please let me know when the convertables will be able too be ordered!!! thanx ed, keep up the great and rewarding work. your continuing a ledgend
“Gonna save my pennies, gonna save my dimes!”
Geddi-yup, Geddi-yup…CA-MAR-O !
i’M GONNA GET ME ONE !
EYE’S ON THE CONVERTABLE!
I’d love to see T Tops, Targa Top, or a hardtop on the new Camaro, as well as a single engine choice for the SS package. My 2002 Z28 gets almost 30mpg without the use of Active Displacement. Why can’t I have an automatic trans AND an LS3?
I love the drop top but will love it if it was a hard top. But can’t wait to have one.
Love the new body, and mine will be a six speed in the red jewel.
Would love a convertible, but in Chicago the tops take a beating – add a hardtop convert., targa, or T’s please! A normal sunroof won’t do this one justice.
The interior is almost an anticlimax – a set of premium seats with real bolsters would be a help, and the passenger side dash is a sea of plastic.
Will they have t tops?
I love the look of the convertible. That is the version I am looking forward to buying, driving and drooling over.
Chevy blew it. The new Camaro should of came out in 2007. 40 years after the first Camaro.
I own a 67 rs and 02 ss . Cant wait for the new camaro to hit dealers lots. Great job GM. I hope they are priced competively and sell faster than you can make them.
I to would love to see the T Tops or a Hard-Top on the new Camaro.I would love to a real SS with the Z06 motor in it .
I think it looks great and cant wait once again to get my hands wrapped around that steering wheel.
Only one complaint the rearend look.
The concept car rearend looks great, dont so much like the the reverse light placement couldnt you just intergrade it into the back lights some how. just a thought
Told I’m too old to still be driving Camaros, but got my first more than twenty-five years ago. I’ve had a ‘79 RS, then a ‘78 Z-28. I bought a new 1993; an old drunk drove into me and totaled it. I got my hands on a used ‘94, wore it out and bought a 2 year old ‘01 with 11K miles on it. It still has only 59K miles. Then I bought another used ‘94 and drove it alternately with the ‘01. In May I bought a 2002 35th Limited Edition Z-28 convertible with 14,600 miles. It is all black, totally sweet and is the finest car I have ever owned. I love Camaros and think the new ones will be awesome.
I love it. Great job. Thank you for a soft top convertible. I always loved the look of a cloth top and its contrasting color to the car’s body. They can keep those expensive, complicated, trunk robbing retractible tops, BUT…
My BIGGEST wish, though, is a new Firebird. I’ve owned Firebirds in the past and own one now and I’d buy a new Firebird in a second. Can’t say that for the rest of the Pontiac line. I won’t buy a new GTO either if one is made. It has to be a Firebird!
Looks nice. Interior shots are concerning. Seems to feel crowded – not as open in the cockpit as the former F-Series. WHERE ARE THE T-TOPS????
This is a great looking car but the longer we wait to put it in production the more dodge chargers and the more ford mustangs there will be on the road. My friends and I cant wait to drive one. Please start selling it as soon as possible.
As the proud owner of a white with black racing stripes, 68 camaro convertible, manual steering and brakes , I’m looking forward to seing the new convertible in person. Looking forward to seing how chevy will package the camaro with color schemes of the past, pin striping and racing stripes. Must have auotmatic versions of the ss’s or, z’28.
Looks very nice, I will not trade the old for the new!
It’s about time the Camaro is back to kick the mustangs butt. I owned a WS6 and the only thing a mustang saw was the taillights of that TA. Where’s the TA?
I was fortunate enough to see the SS in Arizona. The car is everything I imagined it to be. I cannot wait to park it in the garage next to my 68 RS camaro. And I dont care what the mark up is going to be, I have waited patiently for a long while now and i deserve that car when it hits the showroom. HA HA
The new Camaro looks very intriguing and the initial reports on the V-6 are also very encouraging. The 305 hp and 6.1 sec 0-60 time is impressive. Get the gas mileage as high possible and you will sell many. Seriously look at a turbo 4 cylinder I would like to see the numbers although I understand there are diminishing returns.
If you design an interior as awesome as the exterior, I will be special ordering this Camero.
I have owned two cameros. Love the cars. The 2010 Camero…pure magic!!
it’s about time!
Thank you
I’ve grown up with 68’s my entire life and I have to say that I am a little disappointed that the new Camaro takes it’s design cues from the ‘69. I think if you asked actual Camaro lovers which they prefer, 1968 would clearly be the favorite. Also the differences between the concept and the 2010 are quite noticeable and to be quite honest, I thought the concept was spot on.
I ab so lute ly cannot wait for the convertible to show up. I have an 07 mustang to cover my desires for now but as soon as this thing hits the showroom floor topless I am gonna be the first one in town to own one! I’ve already started a savings plan. So hit me GM!
OMG!!! This is the hottest car I have ever seen. I am usually not a sports car person but after seeing this car on the movie Transformers, I fell in love with it. I even bought the movie just to see the car and of course little cutie Shia Lebouf. If there is any way I can afford to buy this car I will. Haven’t decided which color I like best yet though. My daughter was wanting a mustang but if this car is available she will be getting this one. Can’t wait to see them on the streets.
Awesome job Cheverolet.
I will take a black one with silver racing stripes, please.. : ) : ) : )
I got to have a convt !!!!!!!!!!!!
great looking car
I’ve been buying Chevy’s all my life and have waited years for this car to return. To say that I’m disappointed would be an understatement. What happened? Ford got it right! Hell even Dodge got it right! You guys dropped the ball again thought you would have learned with the GTO ! When are you guys going to stop listening to those YES men you keep hiring and ask the buying public what they want? Hope it works out for you as for me I’ll probably take my business to Dodge bad as I hate to admit it they actually heard what their customer base was saying!
“I will take a black one with silver racing stripes, please..”
Lisa,
Think how cool a Challenger would look in black with silver racing stripes.
I do like the convertible, but with a lot of “drop-tops” going to a hardtop sectional top style, is that a possibility? I plan on using this car as my everyday driver and have owned the rag top before, just too noisy for everyday. I also am not convinced you did the best job with the interior. I would like a more modern interior, since that is what I see and feel while driving, but leave the exterior for those to watch as I drive by. I love the Exterior lines and style – Homerun in my eyes. Looking forward to the arrival and I hope Chevy makes enough to go around, there is nothing that turns the car buying public off than Dealer Mark-up…
I love that GM is bringing back the Camaro. It looks great and the convertible reminds me of my old days with my 1969 Camaro Indy Pace Car. I know it will have a strong engine and handling package as well as a comfortable interior. I have nver owned a Chevy I didnt like and cant wait for this one to hit the market! What s next boys… 70 SS Chevelle remake?… I can only hope and dream.
“there is nothing that turns the car buying public off than Dealer Mark-up…”
Wouldn’t it be nice if GM sold the Camaro to customers directly through the Internet?
Love the photo’s of the new Camaro. I can’t wait to get mine. I would really love it if you guys would give us a hard top convertible option. That would be awesome and I would be more than willing to pay extra for it.
The convertible looks slick. I’m more into the coupe or T top, but if you made a convertible hard top, I would have to get it without a second thought. I have never owned a Camaro, but have always loved the 67-69 models. I have always planned on buying one but when first got word on the new Camaro and saw the concept, my jaw dropped. It’s all about the 2010 Camaro now. I can’t wait, hurry up and get them out. And please, please don’t hold them back. My heart was broken when I found out they were not coming out with the 08 model. I have been ready for this for a few years now. Also, will there be a hybrid model.
Nice!!
Hello, i just want to know the price for this beautiful car, i got already a z28 1999 blue camaro and I want for sure to star saving money so I can get my new car….
Please let me know ASAP.
THANK YOU
I purchased a new ‘94 Z28 Camaro conv. from Chevrolet and was very happy with it. With the new independent. rear suspension, this 2010 model should approach my current 2002 BMW 325 in ride and handling and surpass it in performance, if not fuel economy. Other than that, I like it lot and may have to have one, all I would say is lose the “mail slot”, unless it is a functional ram air, like the BMW has!
I love this vehicle ! Waiting for the rag-top.
Watch the pricing..
You MUST keep the V8 w/average toys price range reasonable. This is a toy for most of us and it’s hard to justify big cash for that. I want one ..bad. But there has been no “official” price point announced since the concept introduction and that scares me..big time. ( yeah, I know, Mustang/Challenger competative. )
I picture the alps mountain climber game from The Price is Right – independant rear, LS3… Yodel-ay-hee-hoo! Don’t let ‘er fall over the edge guys. You’ve got a winner here. Don’t blow it. Remember, your not competing against the Vette.
Waiting.. biting nails.
BTW: V8, 6spd man, convert. , Orange / black stripes.
How about a solid rear axle option?
Man, my past has just caugh up with and pass me. What a muscle car, I’ll take one in victory red
I have been waiting for this car every since I saw the first concept one. I think the car is GREAT. I am waiting to see the convertible one with the top up. I am glad to say that I will be blessed to be one of the first to buy one in my area when it comes out. I love what you have done with this car. Great Job.
P.S. Don’t do like dodge did with the price they put on that challenger ( $45,000 +) that is crazy. I’ll buy a corvette before I pay the price they want me to pay for that car.
I would love to see a hardtop convertible!
I want one, I want one of them! just hope it reaches Latin America someday
I’m very interested in seeing more of what the final convertible will look like and what options will be available. I’ve always wanted a ‘69 Camaro convertible, and I’m seriously considering getting one of the reproduction ones with more modern capabilities. Depending on how the new convertible turns out, I will decide which way to go. I do hope it comes with a hard top, even if it’s just a removable one. I really don’t like having a ragtop year around.
I’m very interested in the yellow with black racing stripes. If it doesn’t come that way, it will be going straight to the paint shop to do so.
Also, I haven’t seen anything about tire pressure monitoring. I hope that will be an available feature.
I own a 68 RS SS and cant wait for the 2009. I saw both the coup an convertible at Barrett Jackson. I have owned muscle cars, Ferrari, Lambos, etc… I love cars. This new body is awesome. The only comments i will add refer to : 1. convertible top and 2. the engine, 3. color.
1. I would like the engineers to consider a retractable hardtop like the BMW 3 series
2. I would assume that in the future there will be a ZO6 type engine option for bigger buck
3. I also think you should consider the color on the transformer movie vehicle
Great design, great interior, great exterior… we are in the future and you certainly designed the car to show both its heritage and the future all in one.
I cant wait until the new camaro hits the street. My first care was a 67 ss, then a 74 and the last one was an 81 Z28, I stopped buying them once they start cutting down their size and I got married.
Wow, my wife and I have owned Camaros as far back as 1974 including a couple Z28’s
Can’t wait for a 2010 SS Conv. in bright Orange
Don’t forget about a Indy Pace Car Edition !!
CHEVY BOTCHED THE NEW CAMARO UNLIKE DODGE DID WITH THERE CHALLENGER I WAS A LOYAL CHEVY GUY STILL OWNING 2 56 PICKUP’S 72 NOVA AND A 72 MONTE, CHEVY LET ONE GET AWAY SO SAD
Very nice looking and well engineered vehicle. I am interested in the convertible. A BIG plus would be a retractable hard top! This would offer more safety/security and good looks as well.
I agree, the convertible needs to be a retractable hardtop. Would also be nice if it had a power sunroof like the Volkswagen Eos.
It should be a hardtop convertible, not soft
I am so ready for this car to be…When I first saw the new Camaro is reminded me of my dads old one that he had when he was in his 20’s and I showed him a picture of the new one and his eyes just lid up like he was looking at his old one. I will be getting one when they come out…
I was a Camaro enthusiast all my life. I have owned a total of 5 (1967, 1970 1/2 Z28 SS, 1973 Sport Coupe, 1997 Z28 SS 30th Ann Edition & my last was a 2002 Z28 SS 35th Ann Edition). When Chevrolet decided to drop the F-Body platform at the 2002 model years end, they lost me as a customer FOREVER! All the marketing mind-fucking in the world would never put my ass in a Chevy seat again. They’re called principles and it’s brand loyalty. Like they say; fuck me once, shame on you. Fuck me twice, shame on ME…
It looks like Chevy’s (once again) chasing it’s old foes. The Mustang, the Charger, the challenger etc.. It was a great idea, but you’re a little late to the party. I’m not sure how much longer Americans will be willing to store these new, remakes in their garages when they’re forced to pay $3.50 + for a gallon of 87 octane gasoline. Good luck with that . . . ScummmmBags!
Love it except the RS should have hidden head lights, the convertible should be a fold up hard top like the G6 convert, where’s the Z28? also the color pallet desprately needs RALLY GREEN. If that color is available, I’ll take a RS SS RALLY GREEN convert 6speed manual please GM make that color available.
nice to see the camaro back.—but I still want a Trans Am!
OH MY GOD, that production Vert looks HOT AS HECK!!! Much better than the prototype one!!! *$&#@*^& Is all I can say! WOW Good job GM!
1969 reincarnated. This car is freakin awesome!!!!!! Great job Chevy
Fisher bodies for GM were always admired. The dash / Intr. design for the new camaro needs work.
Don’t disappoint your customers. We aren’t all 20 somethhing buyiing your cars and their are other manufactures completing for our bucks.
Please find a way to make the Camaro a hard top convertible. This would make it the perfect re-introduction. a hard top would be so much more refined and appealing to the over 40 group who are on the feon wether or not to consider a new Camaro.nce
Two words: RETRACTABLE HARDTOP!!! (PLEEEEEAAAAASE!)-TOn
Probably one of the best designs to come “back” in a long time. The convertible is definitely the choice for me (provided it doesn’t creek and rattle like the 4th generation did). I have also heard/read that the convertible may not truly happen due to cost reatraints. PLEASE!!!!!!! don’t let that happen. Make mine yellow w/black rally stripes and black interior and top or white w/orange rally stripes and white top/interior. I can just see it now. Oh, and by the way, to those who don’t like the interior layout/guage designs………….You must have never taken a good look at a ‘69 Camaro interior. You my friends are pretenders, not contenders to purchase this type of car.
Beautiful car. I love the location of the front wheels giving it a more brunt look. The convertible roof’s lines are very nice as well and unlike most convertibles, looks just as good with the top up as down. I really wish you had stuck with the fuel filler mounted on the top of the rear left fender, like the concept.
Thanks for the sentilizing photos of the new Camaro , my question is how much leg and head room will there be ? I am 6′4″ and used to drive an 89 IROC Z that had good leg and head room, I would love to get behind the wheel of this new Camaro …make mine a cherry red 3.6L DI with auto
( you should add paddle shifters) too!
Great Job GM!
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! I was quite suprised to see the new Camaro in the Milwaukee, WI area, but as soon as I seen the front end coming toward me, I knew what it was. The first thing I said to hubby was”how the hell did he get the new Camaro?” (Told Hubby I want on the list!!! lol) Glad the concept is going to be reality.
The fact that the 5th generation Camaro is absurdly heavier, gets poorer gas mileage, has a cheaper front suspension design, yet is far more expensive than the 4th generation cars is a BIG minus in my book. And by the time it is released, gas will be $5 per gallon —- I hope they are planning for that!
I personally also feel like the car is also a caricature of the ‘69 rather than a well-though-out modern tribute like the new Mustang is to the ‘68 ‘Stang. I have always HATED Fords… yet for the first time, every time I see a new Mustang, I get a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart for 1968.
The new Camaro’s WAY over-the-top styling might actually attract video-game-brain-damaged young buyers, though, so who am I to question GM…??? (hey, they’ve only failed the American people and their shareholders for the past thirty years….).
Stripes Z28 come on How can you have a Camaro and no Z28 I have a 68 Z and was looking to bye a 2010 Z please think about this.
I hate that I just bought a truck! This car screams Second Lieutenant on their way to deployment! American apple pie! Mclean’s song bye-bye Miss America pie, drove my chevy to the levee….For me anyway
being a second louie and all. Sweet! All it needs is an American Flag!
I viewed some of the interior shots of the new Camaro recently. I know that you have a bunch of computer Wiz Kids designing this car,, BUT do any of them drive to work , or do they take the bus??? Who puts GAUGES on the floor console ?? If you build a SS model, gearheads will want to see oil press. or fuel or Temp. quickly
with out having to look DOWN at the center console on the FLOOR,, especially in city driving. Put them back up on the dash or even higher,,,such as the left window post,, or small rectangular side by side gauges on TOP of the dash, maybe 1″ high. I drove a ‘86 Suburban w/horse trailer for years & added gauges in flat black to the dash, so I would know at a glance what my eng. & trans. were doing at all times. I also
drove Busses & trucks for 30 yrs. & I know that the lower down you look for a gauge, the longer your eyes are off the road or your mirrors. That’s just DANGEROUS!! My wife wants a Camaro Convertible. We turn 60 in 2010. Since I do ALL the driving,,
I would like for Chevy to RECONSIDER the placement of the gauges, for safety sake.My Wife owned a ‘68 Corvette & I had a ‘67 GTO, both with added gauges up hi for safety’s sake, so please try to listen to the voice of EXPERIENCE, Thanks, K&BV
Car looks great but I’m sure It will be overpriced. Hey why don’t chevrolet fire all the australions & get some one to make an impala 2-door rwd convertible with a retro 4- speed & power not the sissy girl
303 hp you have now with 4 doors. looking to buy soon hook me chevy hook me. I’m a chevy guy but
you don’t still make chevys I sure can’t find one.
I really like this car and am planning to buy the convertible ss model in yellow. But iIl have an issue if the convertible modle is a rag top. This car should have a hard top. And are you offing racing stripes?
I am hoping that they make a convertible in the SS package, but realistically I know they won’t. Regardless, I was going to buy a vette this year, but called my local Chevy man (who has been selling my family vehicles for 15 years) and asked him to find me a black convertible. The car looks awesome, the interior is really cool (despite what some closed minded thinkers are saying) and I can’t wait to get the call to come put my deposit down. I’m thinking 60,000 bucks for a convertible?
sharp looking convertible..i sure hope you make a dk. navy color with matching dk. navy top….
styling and a performance package only G.M.could mastermind and accomplish, hats off to you from all us loyal bowtie fans, get them cruising.
My wife and I also leased our cars so we could be in line for the next beutiful Camaro.
I used to own one, and will again. Our plan is to store it in the winter, show it off in the summer, and pass it down to our grandkids in a couple decades. We cant wait, and will be one of the first in line to place our order. Thank you so much for bringing it back.
You make a high performance FULLY loaded (nav, BT, dual climate, seat memory, heated/cooled seats, etc) version of the convertable, and I will walk down and pay for it! Love the new interior, can’t wait to see the final design!
I used to own a 1969 Camaro; could kick myself for selling it. The Camaro is my car and the wait for it is excruciating. I really want a convertible but if you guys build the convertible with a soft top rather than a retractable hard top I just may have to go with the coupe. This car does not deserve a rag top. Please, please go that extra step and give this beautiful piece of machinery the only convertible top that is worthy of the name Camaro.
Okay, I have an all original 1968 Camaro, and she’s my baby. But, as soon as I can find a dealership to deal with me, (which in my area hasn’t been an easy task) I will have the orange convertible to sit beside her in the garage. It is by far the prettiest new automobile I have seen in a while. So, could someone please help a girl in Alabama get her this car, the money is burning a hole in my pocket. LOL
I like the looks of the new camaro. I hope that this doesn’t turn into an ugly beast as it has in the past. Most of my friends would kill to have a generation 1 camaro body on a modern chassis with an updated interior. The first body style has the great smooth lines and a reputation for being a tough street machine. I know that’s not a look you are going for but alot of people would buy it. I know of at least 7 and that’s just in my small circle of friends. I’m thinking of doing it with my ‘67 in the garage. Just don’t make it blocky and square looking. I think you’d be taking too much from the car. It’s a style right now that alot of people seem to like, but I think it’s terrible. It ruins what I think a car should be and look like. Another thought is that the options shoud be more free. GM has a great crate engine department and they should be an option for this car. The fast burn 383 or a 572 big block would be a hot rodders dream in this car. I’d probably buy 2, a convertable and a hard top. Most of us that have been around awhile don’t care too much for the fuel economy aspect. We like the good looks and knowing what it’s got under the hood. We go to the track on the weekend to show it off. Of coure hide away headlights and cowl induction are always cool too. I definitly plan on buying at least one, depending on price of course. The question is do you buy it right away or wait a year for the bugs to get worked out?
This car should have been released last year.
P.S. Stop making it look like the mustang.
We just lost our home to foreclosure. I have just been laid off from my job. Our future is uncertaqin. I will give. I will try my damndest to get back on my feet to get this bad boy as soon as possible!!!! My first car was a camaro and I have NEVER gotten over it! If you are giving a “used test model” away, I will gladly take it off of your hands!
I’m with Eric. I would love to see a hard top convertible. I almost purchased a G6 but when I saw the new Camaro….I’ll wait!!! I fell in love with the early models. Always wanted one… Waited a long time…I hope to purchase one soon as they’re available!!
Why the cloth top? Retro is good to a point, but with technology today, why not a hard top convertible?
Why not make a hard top convertible like the Pontiac G6 or Cadillac XLR?
Bob Voelsing,
Those console gauges you speak of are oil pressure, oil temp., volt meter, and transmission temp. The important gauges – fuel and engine temp – are in the speedo and tach where they belong. No need to fret, as they are just pretty much for show. The console gauges are also optional – they are only included on the LT2 and SS2 packages (LT1 and SS1 have no gauges, and the LT2 and SS2 will have the gauges as well as some other extras).
TO EVERYONE AT GM (specifically Cheryl, Bob, Scott S., and the rest of the Camaro core design team)……
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I unfortunately didn’t have a chance to make it to Indianapolis last weekend, but I have seen hundreds of pictures from the show on Camaro5.com and have been paying close attention to the development of the Camaro for 2 years. This car is just incredible! The details look fantastic, the fit and finish is top notch, and everything I’ve seen about this car blows away my very, very high expectations.
For the few of you on this thread who don’t like the car for one reason or another, I encourage you to check out a Camaro forum and see the pictures people took of the production ready cars at Indianapolis last weekend. It was the first public viewing of what are for all intents and purposes production ready Camaros, both V6s and V8s, in manual and automatic transmissions. I think you will change your mind. Visitors took hundreds of pictures, inside, out, and under. In the trunk, too – good thing Shunt was let go before hand (inside joke, I think a few Camaro core team engineers who might read this will get it).
I am all ready to place my order, but not untill final pricing is released, so it may be January before I do. Nonetheless, I have it picked out:
Camaro SS 1 (or I might go SS 2 if it doesn’t automatically include leather, still don’t know yet)
Silver/black interior
Manual transmission
RS Package
Moonroof
Hurst short throw shift kit
Now, everyone knows what I’m ordering, so I’m ready whenever you are!
Love to you all at GM!!!!
I own a 91 RS convertible with some minor mods and a 350 with the Z28 TPI system. For a 3rd Gen, it is pretty rare as it is a converitble, only 22,000 or so produced. I planned on driving it till I died or the wheels fell off until I saw the convertible 5th Gen. Just do me a favor, GM, make it affordable so I can get one. Otherwise, I will just keep spening money on my current Camaro to make it even faster.
Lets get it to production, my money is burning a hole in my pocket to get the thing in my driveway. Convertible, in navy SS trim w/ manual please
Unlike the challenger, mustang and the pony car (NO BACK SEAT) syndrome , why not do a THIRD DOOR allowing rear seat passengers egress to the seats. This one change would put the camaro into a different strata than the others. GM has the technology since they did it on the SATURN. The change could be done without ruining the lines of the car!
I raced over to LA to see the red concept premiere, and fell in love with it ever since. GM has turned this machine not into another muscle, but into what the Camaro always should’ve been: a world-class grand tourer. What a wonderful showcase of the General’s ability. Compare it to the “primitive” layout and specs of the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger. Even if the Camaro falls victim to the oil crunch, it’d still be gold with me.
I’d run the whole length of the Great Wall of China for one.
The car’s exterior is beautiful. The car’s interior is a little bit too young. I think that chevy should identify as their competition the z 300, honda s2000, maybe even the bmw 1 series. The interior should go up market.
The camaro could be a car positioned to recreate the market. I have never owned an American sports car (only Japanese) but I would be willing to purchase a Camaro (I want to buy American) if it had the reliability, (it already has the looks), dealer support, performance and comfort of the German and Japanese cars. In addition Chevy should do what the other makers do. Look at what others are offering and add it to your list/make it better. Will the car have remote access? An up level leather intereior? A slick shifting 6 speed manual? The realibility of the Japanese? Decent fuel mileage.
GM, what ever you do as the final design do not go overboard. Keep this car as close to the ‘69 model year as possible. I owned a 1969 RS Z28 and wished I never sold it! It had everything, 8 grand tack, console guage cluster, bumper guards, cowl hood, chin spoiler, rear spoiler. Loved that car. With the new 2010 camaro I can own another “classic”. About the only thing I don’t like are some of the badges offered. LS, LE? WTF! The 69 model didn’t have these. Sinse you modeled this car after the ‘69 this doesn’t make sense. Stick with the original badges. eg, “Z28″, “SS”, “RS”. Is there going to be a hidden headlight version? Most of all, is GM going to offer a Z28 model? The concept car had the “gills” in front of the rear wheels. I didn’t see it on the street test car. Keep that feature in place. You don’t want another slab side car in the line up. If it looks as good as I think it’s going to I will be picking one up. It’s up to you GM.
GOT TO HAVE CHROME WHEELS AVAILABLE–OFFER STRIPES(HOCKEYSTICK OR SS STRIPES)!MUST BE AFFORDABLE–NOT ANOTHER SSR(NEAT VEHICLE,OVER PRICED)GET TO IT!!!!!!
Hey guys,
The design is finished. What you see in the pictures is IT – not just “what it will look like”, but what it IS. The entire car is about 90% finalized, so any requests for body changes or any other major changes is moot (besides, a third swing out door ain’t gonna happen).
As far as reliability is concerned, that was one of my biggest areas of concern untill I found out that the IVERs (Integration Vehicle Engineering Release) have each racked up about 200,000 of the most brutal miles you could ever bestoe upon an automobile – not combined, but EACH of them. They drove these cars through butal heat in the desert with full blast A/C going up a hill fully loaded, cold started them in the upper Canadian winter at 35 below, and drove them everywhere. Beating them up in the process.
I have been personally convinced (and mind you, my expectations are very high) that GM has done their homework in the reliability of this car. We aren’t going to see what we saw with 3rd and 4th gen F-bodies that had cheap plastic interiors and head gasket leaks before 100k miles.
This car isn’t going to save GM, but it will go a long way in changing people’s minds about the company. I’ve been a Honda owner for 9 years and GM has convinced me. Not with advertising or some sales pitch, but what the engineers and advisors that I have spoken to via the web have said. They aren’t just slapping some parts together and calling it a Camaro. I think there is more work going into this car than what went into the redesigned Malibu or even the Cadillac CTS….. and you already know they are both great cars.
I just cannot wait till they get to my dealer so I can drive one and place my order!!!!!!
The come back of the Camaro is long overdue for us Chevy fans. Ford has been basking in the limelight with no competition for the Mustang. Unlike the Mustang and the Dodge Challenger which only have the look of the old classic, Chevy’s Camaro is done to almost perfection. They have a touch of the 69 Camaro which is the ultimate styling of all, but unlike Ford and Chrysler have added to the styling so you know it is a car of the 21st. century. Chevrolet if you do not lose your focus on this car and keep improving on this great Icon, the new generation Camaro will be the car that others in its class are judged.
I have to say as a long time Ford fan I am excited to see/drive the new Camaro. My wife bought a HHR, and I bought a 1500 Silverado (my first Chevy product ever!), now I am hooked on Chevy and I told the dealer to take my name and call me when it hits the ground. I want the Convertible and I want it bad, but I have a budget like most people. The stang was affordable but too many A**holes drive them, so bring cruising back and give us some classic options, RS/SS would be a nice place to start. Ditch the cheap dash and make it nice, dispite $4/gal we will drive it!
Nice looking vehicle. Will look hard at the convertible when it arrives at the dealers. Long time GM owner. If the “new” GTO would been done with the retro-look like this, maybe Pontiac would have sold one. You gotta price these right so the everyday “joe” can afford one and you can compete with the Mustang. Will you take a 65 GTO in trade! Anyway nice looking vehicle. Can’t wait to test drive one. I’ll also volunteer to be the guy you loan one to for a month to garner public opinion.
Its about time we have a Chevy convert. with roll down quarter windows. Like the looks and can’t wait to actually see one at the dealer so I can buy a Chevy rather than a Ford Mustang.
Love the design but I don’t like the rear valance in black…takes away from the overall rear design…for whatever reason when I look at the rear view of the car my eyes are drawn to this area first…Please do something to prevent this and try to blend it in with the rest of the car. Also I feel the wheels and tires are too small and should fill the wheel wells more… similar to the prototype. As for the interior, I love it…don’t change anything! Other than that the only thing I’m interested in is perhaps the possibility of the RS/SS or Z/28 packages being offered.
Put my name on an orange ss convertible with the 422 hp, six speed manual.
Air and XM.
Gas card.
Excitedly waiting for Camaro release… will buy SS-6speed if it looks as good in person as it does in pics. Love the side and 3/4 rear view… but think it’s not as pretty in front — needs RS headlight covers & a different fresh air intake. But why so few colors to choose from? Marina Blue? Will be looking for top quality interior — which must be on par with current luxury & European sport coupes — double binicle dash pod reminds me of early DeTomaso Pantera, not early Camaros – it’s not attractive! Regarding ride & drive: it must be blistering fast, with perfect gearing for bursts between 40 – 100! Must corner like a slot car on rails. I’ve been very impressed with the handling of Hemi Chargers & Challengers.
Iove the look, but if your going to bring it into the 21st centry, DO NOT make the convertible version a god damn rag top, make it 21st hard top convertible.
nothing else can touch it, for that matter ,nothing else can sit in the same deriveway!
P.S. i disagree with Trowa Kardel, Let there be options.
Hello, I am a camaro owner and also work for a dealer in fl. I am excited to say that camaro are availble to be order Nov. 10th 2008 and will hit showroom floors march of 09 . I was also wondering if gm will produce t-tops in the 1st year since only coupes are offered . The car looks great but i think that it would work if they offered t-tops in z28 edition but no z28 models . Maybe in future . Well thanks for listening looking forward to the car .
thank you ,
paul
Jordan,
If the Challenger impressed you…you’re going to be dumbstruck by the Camaro!!
Recently, in an automotive magazine, the V6 car was reviewed. And they described the V6 suspension as making the Challenger’s (SRT, mind you) feel “plodding”. The Camaro was crisp, responsive, and surprisingly nimble for its size. The SS will be even better than that!!
And, I had the great honor of attending the Indianapolis even this September, at which the new Camaro made an appearance. And let me tell you; interior quality (materials, fit/finsish, and layout) is TOP-NOTCH!!
Anybody who reads this, who HAS NOT seen the Camaro in person, yet, and might have doubts about the vehicle; I urge you very strongly to hold judgment until you get to sit in it. I will personally guarantee that 95% of you who read this will have a smile planted on your face the minute you enter this vehicle.
You guys got this one right, GM. And I can’t think of a better time than now to release an attention-grabbing vehicle such as the Camaro. I wish you the best of luck in sales (even though I don’t think you’ll need it).
The purists will disagree with me…
But will you be making a model that uses natural gas or hybrid technology in order to have lower operating costs. This is a sign that I’m getting old… I still want a decent quarter mile time (for short freeway onramps instead of drag-race bragging rights) but the main reason that I like my current convertible is that I can relax (in the right lane) driving with the top down it down the GW Parkway in VA and feel my blood pressure going down.
The only thing I don’t like about my ride is the cost of gas. Let a gas V8 (or high-power V6) be an option for those who want it. But is there a way to combine the comfort of a Camaro Convertible with the technology of a Volt?
I don’t want to be held hostage to OPEC anymore but I don’t want to be forced to drive a dorky Prius.
HARDTOP Convertible???? Pretty Please!!
It looks like a cross between the Mustang and the Charger! The old version was so independantly beautiful. Oh, well, you also turned the cute Cavalier into a Cobalt. Ugh. Don’t worry I have a Chevy truck & love it!
NEED A ELECTRIC HYBRID CONVERTABLE MODEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Paul,
If you are a salseman at a Chevy dealer, as your professional duty and job requirement, you should do your due dilligent research about the Camaro. As a Camaro buyer, I would be less than pleased to step into your showroom, and speak to you only to hear you suggest their even MIGHT be T-Tops on any future Camaro. I can never quite get comfortable with any salesman who knows less than I do about a car.
If you have been paying attention to the development of the car for over 2 years, you will know that the body structure prohibits any T-tops to be made. Ever. With curtian airbags it even adds an extra never ever. The t’s were cool in their day, but not possible with modern structural engineering and safety standards.
There will be a moonroof option, however.
would really love the convertible to be a hardtop!!!
I can’t wait for the convertible. Very nice roof design. A soft top would be fine for me. I would like a reasonably priced boot. ($1200 for my 4th gen boot, that now sells on ebay for $200, was tough to swallow.)
I hope the stereo has a direct mp3/4 hardwire input. No mention of HUD recently, has it been cut? I hope not.
Looking forward to a White on White, orange interior, 6 speed to go beside my Matador Red 4 speed 68 that I’ve owned for 28 years(Bought it the year I got my license).
Although I would have liked to see it sooner, we enthusiasts kept the faith, THANK YOU for bringing Camaro back.
The new Camaro sure does look nice, but I only have one question: Where is my new Firebird? GM should have done this long ago. I thought it was a serious mistake to discontinue the Camaros and Firebirds – they conceded defeat to the Ford Mustang. It was also a mistake to try to make American autos look like japanese autos. I won’t buy japanese, and don’t want an American auto that looks like they tried to make it look japanese.
My wife and I still have our 1980 Formula Firebird. Now restored, we call it “The Firebomb”. We still think it was one of the best looking vehichles GM ever produced.
So get on it, guys! Where is my Firebird?
Mr. Lutz,
I own 3 chevys; 2006 Monte SS, 2004 Monte SS and a 1993 Chevy S10
I am counting the days to trade my 2006 Monte in for a 2010 Camaro Covertable SS. I am only hoping that it is afordable for a person living in Lansing MI that works in the automotive industry.
If you want to kick Mustang butt think twice about the price. I am wondering why nothing has been said about price range yet?
Would love to see this in a hard top convertible, could either be removable or fold into trunk. Not really interested in a soft top.
Owning several Camaro’s while I was single from a 1968 SS to the 2001 SS, I too am hoping GM doesn’t add a market demand price as the New Challengers. Even Ford realized this was a mistake. Please, Please, market these vehicles fairly. You don’t need to gouge us but instead build and price on logevity sales so your profits grow for years and we will be able to drive these awsome machines for years as well. This way we all win.
I love the new Camaro, I just turned 49 and anxoious to see if I can afford one. If so, I will once again become a new Chevy owner. Your design is nothing short of complete beauty. Also, can a 6′ 2″ guy like me fit into one easily? It’s been a problem for past vehicles. It seems these the older Gen’s. were designed for people und 6′.
Great job Ed, keep up the good work.
should make it a hard top not soft top, better in cold weather, had an XLR loved it.need to change looks of dash.
Looks Great! … but please make it affordable and not “limited production …Chevrolet should build one for everybody that wants one!
Chevrolet has a #1 Hit with the exciting Malibu…..Now, The Camaro ! Chevrolet is leading the way into the 21st Century.
I want the LS3 with the automatic.
I want to order it my way, is that possible.
I’ve been waiting since summer to order it.
YOU GUY’S ARE KILLING ME!!!!! I want one now! Just to let you know that I ordered a 2SS /RS coupe and I will be ordering the SS convt. I think it’s really SWEET looking and can’t wait to get my hands on one. THANKS for bring back the camaro convertible!!
I plan to replace my 1991 Mercury Capri XR2 with a new convertible in summer 2010, so your timing looks perfect. I am thrilled that your convertible concept does not have the “rolling brick” look of the current Mustang convertible. Like others, I would prefer a retractable hardtop, but in a rear drive car that is not well suited to winter, it is not critical, and I would willingly trade it for better interior and trunk space. However, it must be a power top, and it really should store under a cover panel like my Capri, while still leaving a usable trunk (at least 6 cubic feet, preferably bigger). I do love the standard high-powered V6, the reasonable gas mileage, and the apparent improvement in ride quality, which is important to an old guy like me who wants to drive it further than the beach.
When decision time comes, I am hoping that the ride, roominess, power, slick power convertible top system, and awesome modern pony car style will trump the exceptional mileage of the Mini Cooper convertible, allowing me to buy a truly great looking American Classic that is affordable to buy AND to drive.
Thank you…
Beautiful car! My father and I have been following the car’s production stages and cannot wait to take one for a drive!
For those who are not satisfied with the interior of the Camaro…
The Camaro has a powerful heritage and the GM Design team chose a theme that pays homage to the original Camaro, while being instantly recognizable as an all-new car.
When plans of the car were announced, Chevy said that the goal is to make the sport coupe relevant to younger enthusiasts while retaining its appeal to its current fans. In my opinion, a very modern interior would have taken away from some of the originality.
I hope I can buy a medium trim level of the Vertt, with the 3.6/ 6 sp manual for around $30k. Gotta have a power top and power/heated seats. Then I’ll go looking for spinning props and 4 ring sporty cars to thumb my nose at.
Love this Camaro Convertible. Congrats to the GM design team who did this car. You guys obviously know what you’re doing!
Give ‘em hell in Washington, Rick. This country needs competent leaders like you. I cringe when I hear those congressional boobs taking shots at you. They just don’t understand that it takes 10-40 in the veins to run a car company as complex and far reaching as GM. There are plenty of us who DO understand that despite your forward reaching positions, you need some time for these seedlings to germinate. Many new products are SO close to production. Products that will blow away the competition.in MPG, design and value.
The best reason for GM to survive is not to save all those jobs, the best reason is so we can buy the terrific products you’ve got comming on line.
Mike
If things continue, economy dips farther down the well, I can’t see GM producing this car. Simpy put, If you don’t have the funds to build cars nothing rolls off an assembly line. The first thing that NEEDS to be done is to get rid of the union. They are a blood sucking drain on the auto industry. Let’s be reasonable, it dosn’t make much sense to pay large salaries to an assymbly line worker just because there is a union standing behind him/her with their hand out. This is only a start. There is way to much fat at the top level of GM. This of course needs to be trimmed away. The consumer doesn’t need to pay 150K+ to some office clown handing paper to another office clown, then to another. Typical office nonsense. The rest is up to GM. Build a sturdy, reliable car for a good price and people will start to buy American again, the way it once was. When it comes to survival of the big three I hope GM and Ford can make it through the famine, I never cared much for chrysler.
The car is better than before but I just have to know are you all still going threw with bumblebee Camaro sweepstakes after all what is happening right?
I love it!
I love it!
Ihave been waiting on this car since 2006. First, I fell in love with the sketches. Now, my heart is captivated by the actual model. I am paying bills off and working hard to get this vehicle ASAP. Thanks for keeping it affordable for the consumers!!
Thanks,
Chevy Chic
I hope they offer Ralley Green w/black graphics, that would be the iceing on the cake! I love this car and can’t wait to get it!!!!! I had a 69′ and let it get away…….not gonna happen with this one. I’ll be 60 years old and 422hp happier when this baby hits the streets.
Love the new design. Great job by everyone involved.
My new car would be the 2010 LS7 with the Silver paint and black stripes that were offered on the 701/2 SS Camaro.
Please deliver the first one to Indianapolis for me.
The new Camero looks beautiful! I am tempted to purchase one, but in this economy, the price can add up fast with just a few options. If it’s everything that you say it is, it’s my kind of car. Price is a BIG issue now.
Best of sucess with this car. The design is right on. John Porcello
Well I am glad to see the Camaro will be a great car.And the Interior is what I expected, congradulations on selling the best car Gm has made in 20 years!(Besides Corvette lol)

I only wish it wasn’t taking another year for this beauty to come out. I don’t think I can wait another year to purchase a car and I want this convertible alas I might have to go for the 9-3.
Good ole GM did it again. I checked with my dealer to see when in March the new camaro will arrive only to find out it will NOT be available till summer ‘09. Sorry GM, but I am going to buy from another automobile manufacturer. You just lost another customer and another sale.
I AM LOOKING FOR THE HARD TOP CONVERTIBLE WHEN WILL YOU START SELLING THAT ONE.
I will buy the convertible, I don’t care how long I have to wait, I am buying it, period. I don’t really understand why it takes another 18 months, but so be it.
Since I was small my mom used to drive a camaro convertible I love that car a lot but she got rid of when I fond out that a new one was comins and I cant wait to get one.
I’m in love with this car! I own a 2002 z28 convertable and can not wait until the convertable is in production. Will it be avalible in orange with the racing stripes? Any info on these cars that you can foreward would be greatley appreacieated.
Thanks
Bob M
long time GM fan
With the current dark arena of the Automobile Industry how refreshing to see a bright light of GM’s glorious past return. Will my BMW Z4 be traded for this new convertible? If she performs as good as the technology invested in her YES! Never mind the Testosterone factor. I can’t wait to once again regain past fond memories and to own a new generation American Classic . A new “Heartbeat of America!”
This car is very good looking i haven’t seen many on the streets on my town but one man has one its orange with two black stripes running down the sides……he’s rich, this man also has a cherry red ferrari this car is my dream car i have always wanted one
Yea, it’s too bad that the 2010 Trans Am is going to demolish the Camaro like it always has. I want to see the looks on the faces of the Camaro drivers when a Pheonix Trans Am blows by them with 80 more horsepower under the hood. It’s kinda funny to hear that poeple actually buy this car with the price. around here, you couldn’t give a Camaro away. Everyone is waiting for the Trans Am. It’s like Christmas for all Trans Am fans. Sure, it might cost a bit more than a Camaro, but it will be totally worth it. This 6.2L beast will be able to blow the doors off the Camaro in every way possible. I just cannot wait to get my hands on the Trans Am and smoke the first Camaro I see!!
I want to see the looks on the faces of the Camaro drivers when a Pheonix Trans Am blows by them with 80 more horsepower under the hood.
Pontiac Power,
And where would this “blows by” happen? Unless you’re on a track, I can’t think of many places where your could legally “blow by” someone.
