Video from GM’s “Rolling Review”
Sunday at the 2009 North American International Auto Show, General Motors unveiled a ‘rolling review’ of our current and upcoming products as well as some potential future ones. We wanted to show the world just what GM offers and the best of today’s GM. Lesley Hettinger from the GM social media team shot this video of the rally, the parade and some of the vehicles. Enjoy! -Christopher Barger, Director Global Communications Technology

Fantastic lineup. I’ve been on this forum for several years and I’ve repeatedly read comments that you should build wagons, small cars ( like the beat concept) as well as hybrids, electrics, and so on. The Spark, Caddy wagon, Spark, and Converj all hit it way out of the park. If I were to say the only negative, its that the timing for the release of the Spark is too late. America needs cheap, affordable, fuel efficient cars NOW, thus the Spark would have fit that role perfectly. Either way, you’ve done a great job this show making your case that you can really make some fantastic cars.
Like I’ve said in the past………..It gives me great pleasure to work for General Motors.
These cars rock !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Converj – what a great looking car! with 40 miles of range on electric drive, this is a new standard , cool looking and helping to cool the planet.

Nice……. I love the Chevy line up for sure. I dont mean to pick on you…but…..some of these,if not all, should have been out already going head to head with the imports. Had these been out before the gas price spike,us dealers would not have such a drop in sales over the summer. But whats done is done. I support GM and drive a Chevy. I think everything looks great. I really hope a lot of these hit the showrooms as soon as possible. GM dealers are closing up in record numbers around here and I worry about my dealer every day I come in to work. We need new blood (new car models) to sell. We also need leasing back. Our car sales are hurting badly and not having leasing is really killing sales.Customers come in and want our cars but most want to lease as times are tough and peple cant afford to finance right now. I just hope my dealer is around to see these new models. I also hope your pricing gets more competitive.
With that said…….I am excited about what you have shown us…….just hurry up and get them here so we can sell them.
If GM is to eliminate the Hummer brand, I think they should rebadge the H3 as a Chevrolet. It is built in the same plant as the Colorado and Canyon. It’s tooling is paid for and there is no Trailblazer left anymore for it to compete against at Chevy. Plus, GM plans to put the DGI V6 in it for 2010 which will improve it’s MPG and give it the power it needs.
There are a lot more Chevrolet dealers so there would be a lot more outlets across the country for it to be sold at. Also, Chevy dealers are more down to earth than the Hummer Dealers were. Since it would be a Chevrolet, it wouldn’t be seen as such a status symbol which helped to get the Hummer brand in trouble. It would be just a small rugged SUV… it could live on for a long time.
So please, just kill off the H2 and rebadge the H3 as the Chevrolet TrailRider (or something like that). Don’t mess with the styling and I will buy one this fall with the DGI V6.
A concerned GM fan,

It is regretful that the parade of these gorgeous and sensible cars is videoed by such armature film crew. I suggest to the camera-person to get a tripod to stabilize zoom shots, and to the announcer to drink some coffee (or energy drink) before narrating the scenes.
Tell me you’re making a Cruze Coupe….if you’re not that’s a huge mistake, there are five cobalt coupes to every sedan out there. No coupe, no buy, my wife will not drive a four door car…period GM. She loves the cobalt and would probably replace it with a cruze if there was a coupe offered.
They look great!
I have a suggestion that if the Orlando is to replace the HHR that it be called the HR, which seems appropriate. Please also consider a 1.4l with a mild hybrid for the production Orlando. Also, I hope you will consider a sports wagon for the Cruze. Thanks!
The Orlando looks like a very good replacement for the HHR. I can’t wait until 2011 to take one for a drive. Also, I agree with whoever said the narrator needs to drink some coffee or something. She comes off as sounding bored not really interested in the new products. A bit more practice at voice inflection and she should be fine next time she narrates one of these vids.

Chris,
Haven’t you heard, GM is at rock bottom with respect to using discretionary funds. They can’t go out and hire a professional narrator or film crew. They probably walked up and down the halls of the Ren Cen saying, “Hey, does anyone know how to operate a video camera?” or, “Does someone want to narrate this video we’re making for the blog?”
They have to improvise with the talent they have at hand. And actually, that will give a better impression should anybody from Congress stop by this blog to see how their using the bailout money. A too polished presentation would give the wrong impression of where the bailout money is going.
These are wonderful cars that GM is coming out with. Nothing else to say.
Spark…… MAGYAR SUZUKI Splash!!
Then, does GM Daewoo produce this? Or, it will be made in Hungary?
Like, for a long time before, Chevrolet Cruze was Suzuki Cruze or Holden Cruze?
Or, do you cut the cooperation of all of European and Asian dealers?
Frankly speaking… seriously, I do not understand why you were always disregarding North American users about these small cars at all. If interested Americans in Spark and cruise are really more than your expectation, why should not you fire your research marketer before trying to dismiss your local factory labors?
Ben, Yeah, I know about all that, but the narrator should at least sound interested in the products. As for the camera work, as mentioned above, a tripod would have worked wonders. Then maybe we might not have had such a good look at the Cruze’s radiator when the camera operator zoomed in on it’s grille as it was being rolled in. As amusing as all this was, I still think a few minor adjustments for next time will make for a huge improvement without raising the budget.
Just to give you an idea of what a bad decision it is to change the name of the Cobalt, you can check the sites full of people that actually like GM.
You aren’t winning over any fans when you make bizarre, irrational decisions like constantly changing the names of cars for no reason.
GM cultivated a tuner market for the Cobalt, the Cobalt SS is winning comparos against more expensive vehicles, and the Cobalt has fansites.
You don’t even have a Coupe version of this Cruze.
Just keep the name Cobalt and nurture it.

Dear Mr. Burns,
as Rahm Emanuel (President Obama’s White House chief of staff) reportedly also is a strong supporter of CNG-fueled cars, it might be interesting to know, what’s going on concerning this subject:

Simply, I dream of the day I can be proud of our manufacturing sector. I am tired of making excuses for our allways failing auto industry. Take me back to 1965 when Chevrolete owned 35% of the market and then from there take a completly different course.
And yes quit changing the names of your cars. In 1973 I could buy a Civic and I still can, and always could. Can GM say the same for any of their cars?
