A group of CEOs came out favor of a regional roll-out of electric vehicles in up to eight cities. The plan is to demonstrate the viability of the technology to help jump start the fledgling industry.

The Electricifcation Coalition held a press conference in Washington, D.C. and released an Electrification Roadmap that list several steps required to ramp up electric vehicle adoption.
There are 13 members of the coalition, including the CEOs of Nissan Motor, FedEx, Pacific Gas & Electric, and battery maker A123 Systems.

Is GM in this group? If not why? Electric Vehicles will be a big part of future transportation.

WIll GM LEAD, FOLLOW, OR GET RUN OVER?

Did I read correct that Doug will be spearheading the electric car development team? I sure hope so because I was a bit disappointed in GM for not doing much with the EV1 & EV2.

I've asked this several times, but no one at GM has ever answered: Will the Volt need to display a HAZMAT placard because of its Li-ion battery?

Common carriers hauling Li-ion batteries do need to display HAZMAT placards as a precaution to warn first responders in the event of an accident.

Who will train first responders of the special precautions they need to follow when they arrive at a Volt traffic accident, and if the Volt has no HAZMAT placard, how will people who don't recognize a Volt know what they are dealing with?
