Corvette C7 First Test Drives Can Happen From the Couch

Gran Turismo® 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

On the eve of the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit hundreds gathered at the Russell Industrial Complex for the unveiling of the 7th generation of the iconic Corvette. The reveal was arguably the most buzzed about event at the show and it didn’t disappoint. The car that has been teased in numerous videos was unveiled to the public to rave reviews.

Everyone can now see what it looks like but still can’t drive it until late Summer 2013. That is unless fans have a Sony PlayStation®3 and Gran Turismo 5. Chevrolet and Sony gave gamers a first-of-its-kind driving experience by offering a camouflaged Corvette C7 Test Prototype as a vehicle download in the critically acclaimed PS3™ racing game Gran Turismo®5 in November and now they are giving them another one-of-its-kind experience when the camouflage comes off to unveil the latest version of the iconic Corvette in GT5.

The Corvette C7 Stingray became available to download and take for a spin on January 15. Sony and Chevrolet collaborated to give an authentic driving experience when behind the wheel of the new Corvette in the game. Designers paid attention to details to give the car in the game specific characteristics of the new Corvette.

GM Brings Personalized Style to SEMA in Las Vegas

Hot Wheels Camaro

General Motors featured a number of exciting vehicles and announcements at the 2012 SEMA show this week in Las Vegas, Nevada. From the debut of several Chevrolet Performance Cars and an exciting COPO Camaro to an enhanced Performance Catalog, GM is shaping up for an exciting year for enthusiasts.

Chevrolet Performance Cars were the highlight of the SEMA show. The Camaro ZL1, the Camaro SS with track-ready 1LE package, the Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition, and even a life-size Hot Wheels Camaro each reflects popular personalization trends and performance upgrades. Driving this point home were the highly personalized Chevy Camaro ZL1 made for NASCAR driver Tony Stewart and Guy Fieri’s Corvette 427.

Chevrolet Performance also made news with its all-new 2013 catalog featuring production-based parts for Camaros, offering automotive enthusiasts factory-engineered components to enhance their driving experience on the street and quicken their performance on the track. The catalog now includes parts for the Camaro ZL1, Camaro SS1LE, and COPO Camaro program.

“Whether you’re running on the street, drag strip or road course, Chevrolet Performance is the first stop for every Camaro builder,” said Jim Campbell, GM U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “Our new catalog offers customers the opportunity to upgrade their car with the official brakes, suspension and other components that make their car more effective on the street and track.”

The final COPO Camaro of 2012 also debuted at SEMA and hits the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in January to benefit the American Heart Association. Not only is the Inferno Orange Metallic painted Camaro the 69th and final race car built, it is only one of two COPO convertibles built. Plus, race enthusiasts won’t be able to resist the 327 engine and 4.0L supercharger.

“The COPO Camaro program has been a special program and there’s not a better way to close out the 2012 racing season than with the final – and most unique one – of the production run,” said Jim Campbell, GM U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports . “I am also happy to announce that due to strong customer demand we will produce another run of 69 COPO Camaros for 2013. More than 3,000 hand-raisers expressed interest in buying a COPO after we introduced the car at SEMA last year. We are excited to support these grassroots motorsports enthusiasts in their Stock Eliminator and Super Stock drag racing efforts,” said Campbell.
